#RV Braves Travel to Bethel on Tuesday

Ottawa is 13-9 overall, 4-0 in the KCAC, and are receiving votes in the NAIA Women's Volleyball Coaches Top 25.

The Braves won their third straight match with a 3-0; 25-22, 25-16, 27-25; victory over (RV) Kansas Wesleyan University on Saturday evening in Wilson Field House. Ottawa finished the match with 42 kills, a .261 attacking percentage, 39 assists, three service aces, 49 digs, and six team blocks. Alexa Boyle led OU with 10 kills. She finished with a .308 attacking percentage and seven digs. Kaitlyn Haller led the Braves with 18 assists. Haylee O'Meara had a double-double. She finished with 15 assist sand 10 digs. Kennedi Wyrick led OU with 11 digs and Jadore Hayes had 10 digs. Radaisy Valdez led OU with four blocks.

Through 22 matches this season, Ottawa is averaging 12 kills per set, 11.1 assists per set, 2.07 blocks per set, 1.4 service aces per set, and 17.7 digs per set. OU has a .192 attacking percentage.

OU is ranked 46th in the NAIA in kills (972), 32nd in total attacks (3,035), 50th in assists (899), 22nd in digs (1,441), 31st in digs per set (17.7), 32nd in solo blocks (52), 31st in block assists (231), 30th in total blocks (168), 29th in blocks per set (2.07), 37th in block errors (36), and 47th in ball handling errors (23).

Radaisy Valdez leads the Braves in kills with 269. She is averaging 3.4 kills per set. Valdez also leads Ottawa in blocks with 72. She is averaging 0.9 per set. Haylee O'Meara leads the team in assists with 414 and is averaging 5.3 per set. Jadore Hayes leads the Braves in service aces (26) and she is averaging 0.3 per set. Hayes also leads the team in digs with 385. She is averaging 4.5 digs per set.

For the first time in her career, Haylee O'Meara was named KCAC Setter of the Week. In two matches last week, O'Meara had 36 assists, five service aces, 17 digs, and six blocks. In OU's 6-2 offense, she averaged 18 assists per match and six assists per set. O'Meara also averaged 2.8 digs per set and 8.5 digs per match.

Tuesday's match is the 93rd meeting between Ottawa University and Bethel College. The Threshers lead the series, 57-35, but OU is on a 17 match winning streak against Bethel. The last time OU lost to BC was on Oct. 18, 2011 in Wilson Field House. Bethel won the match 3-2; 22-25, 18-25, 25-22, 25-16, 12-15. The Braves have won nine straight road matches against the Threshers. Ottawa's last loss at Bethel was on Sept. 30, 2010. The Threshers won the match, 3-2; 23-25, 25-17, 25-19, 19-25, 7-15. The first meeting between the two teams happened on Nov. 6, 1976 at the Kansas State Tournament. Ottawa lost to Bethel, 15-12, 15-10. OU then lost the next 20 matches against Bethel. Ottawa's first win over the Threshers was on Oct. 2, 1990 in Salina. OU won the match 2-1; 8-15, 15-12, 15-7. Ottawa won the match last season on March 1, 2021 in North Newton, 3-0; 25-17, 25-12, 25-17.

Bethel College is 16-6 overall and 3-1 in the KCAC. The Threshers loss in KCAC play was to Kansas Wesleyan University on Oct. 4, 3-0; 25-16, 25-15, 25-15. Bethel enters Tuesday's game coming off a 3-1 victory over Tabor College last Saturday in Hillsboro.

In the win over Tabor, Bethel had 39 kills, a .134 attacking percentage, 38 assists, two service aces, 94 digs, and 10 blocks. Jordan Boone lead BC with 10 kills. Kaitlyn Shima finished with a double-double, 19 assists and 12 digs. Katey Wilhelm led BC with 28 digs and Julie Wilhite finished with five blocks.

Bethel's 16 wins are the most for the Threshers since 2014 when the Threshers finished 17-17.

Mia Loganbill leads BC in kills with 276. She is averaging 3.4 per set. Mia Roman is the Threshers' leader in assists (480) and is averaging six assists per set. Katey Wilhelm is BC's leader in digs with 371 and is averaging 4.64. Julia Wilhite is Bethel's leader in blocks (67) and is averaging 0.8 per set.

Through 22 matches, Bethel is averaging 12 kills per set, 11 assists per set, 1.8 blocks per set, 1.5 service aces per set, and 16.7 digs per set. The Threshers have a .182 attacking percentage.

Bethel is ranked 13th in the NAIA in blocking errors (48) and 18th in ball handling errors (35).
