Braves Down Threshers 3-0, Earning Coach Cottage Win in First Match Against Former Team

NORTH NEWTON, Kan. – The Ottawa Braves soccer team cruised to a 3-0 road win against the Bethel Threshers, earning head coach James Cottage a win in his first match against his former team.

Both sides had a couple of chances in the opening 20 minutes, but it was the Braves who struck first with a goal from Bence Molnar in the 21st minute. Molnar displayed some amazing touch on the goal, receiving a long ball from Lazar Milovic off his chest and turning for a strike that found the back of the net. The Braves had two other threatening opportunities in the first half, but Threshers' keeper Gustavo Infante made three saves to keep Bethel from going down any further. OU went up 1-0 at half.

It didn't take long for Ottawa to double their lead to start the second half, with a goal from Lazar Milovic in the 49th minute. Alonso Basuri sent in an Ottawa corner kick that bounced around between a few players until Milovic was able to get on top of the ball and send it in. Basauri got an assist on Ottawa's next goal that was also off one of his corner kicks, connecting with Francisco Arrua to put the Braves up 3-0 in the 71st minute.

Up Next: The Braves have arguably their toughest KCAC matchup of the season so far, hosting the third-place Friends Falcons at AdventHealth Field on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
