OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's soccer team will honor seven seniors on Saturday for Senior Day, hosting the McPherson Bulldogs at AdventHealth Field for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.
The seven seniors to be honored on the OU men's soccer team are:
Samir Brito,
Julian Colchado,
Aaron Hernandez,
Gage Powers,
Jonathan Rawayo,
Jean-Claude Swartz, and
Zac Wilson.
The Braves are coming off a 3-3 draw at Southwestern on Wednesday.
Francisco Arrua earned the Braves an 81
st minute penalty kick that
Bence Molnar converted to bring the Braves level late in the game.
The Braves' soccer program received votes in the NAIA Coaches Top-25 for the first time since 1971 following the release of the latest NAIA Coaches Top-25 poll. The 1971 men's soccer team was the most successful in program history, finishing with a 16-2-1 record en route to a third-place finish in the NAIA National Tournament. It was the last time Ottawa qualified for NAIA Nationals.
Ottawa's potent offense has been a catalyst all season, ranking 21st in the NAIA with 44 goals scored on the season.
Bence Molnar has scored 15 goals while
Slobodan Novicevic has 13 goals, both ranking in top-5 for goals scored in the KCAC.
The Bulldogs offense has sputtered at times this season, only scoring 18 goals on the season. To put that in perspective, the Braves' Molnar almost has just as many goals as the entire McPherson team. The Bulldogs are led on offense by Saul Munoz (five goals), Samuel Box (three goals), and Gabe Porras (three goals.
Up Next: The Braves conclude the regular season with a huge matchup on the road against No. 16 Oklahoma Wesleyan on Wednesday.
