#RV Braves Return to KCAC Action With a Road Trip to Avila

The Braves are 11-9 overall and 2-0 in the KCAC. Ottawa is receiving votes in the NAIA Women's Volleyball Coaches Top 25. 11 out of OU's 20 matches this season are against nationally ranked opponents.

Ottawa went 1-1 on its road trip to Hastings, Neb. last Saturday. The Braves fell 3-0; 25-15, 28-26, 25-17; to no. 2 University of Jamestown but rebounded to take a 3-2; 25-22, 25-18, 24-26, 21-25, 15-9; win over nationally ranked Hastings College.

OU finished last Saturday with 103 kills, a .196 attacking percentage, 92 assists, nine service aces, 150 digs, and nine team blocks.

For the third time this season, Katilyn Haller has been named KCAC Setter of the Week. In three matches last week, including two against nationally ranked teams and one versus no. 2 University of Jamestown, Haller had 56 assists, 49 digs, four blocks, and 24 kills. In OU's 6-2 offense, she averaged 18.6 assists per match and 5.09 assists per set. Haller earned her second career triple-double in OU's 3-2 victory over Hastings College. She had 11 kills, 30 assists, and 20 digs in the victory.

Through 20 matches, the Braves are averaging 11.8 kills per set, 10.9 assists per set, 2.03 blocks per set, 1.4 service aces per set, and 17.9 digs per set. OU has a .182 attacking percentage.

The Braves are ranked 44th in the NAIA in kills (887), 26th in total attacks (2,826), 45th in assists (821), 21ts in digs (1,344), 27th in digs per set (17.9), 21st in solo blocks (51), 34th in block assists (203), 20th in total blocks (153), 33rd in blocks per set (2.03), 49th in block errors (30) and 37th in ball handling errors (23).

Radaisy Valdez leads the Braves in kills with 254. She has a .310 attacking percentage. Haylee O'Meara is OU's leader in assists with 378, an average of 5.2 assists per set in OU's 6-2 offense. Jadore Hayes is the team's leader in service aces (24) and she leads the Braves in digs (356). Hayes is averaging 4.8 digs per set. Elli Rogers leads the Braves in blocks with 65, an average of 0.89 per set.

Wednesday is the 45th meeting between Ottawa University and Avila University. The Braves lead the series 25-19 and is on a 14 match winning streak against the Eagles. The last time OU lost to Avila was on Sept. 11, 2009. Avila won the match 3-2; 20-25, 18-25, 25-20, 25-13, 12-15. The Braves have won three straight road matches against the Eagles. The last time the Braves lost in Kansas City, Mo. to Avila was on Oct. 19, 1997. The first match between the two teams happened on Oct. 4, 1975 in Wilson Field House. OU won the match 2-0; 15-8, 15-8.

Avila University is 8-14 overall and 0-3 in the KCAC. The Eagles have lost six straight matches and enter Wednesday's match coming off a 3-1; 18-25, 25-17, 24-26, 23-25; to Bethel College on Oct. 1 in North Newton.

In the loss to Bethel, Kelsey Johnson led the Eagles with 19 kills. D'Ovion Williams finished the match with 12 kills and five blocks. Chloe Brundick had 40 assists and Abigail Blake led AU with 25 digs.

Through 22 matches this season, Avila is averaging 11.4 kills per set, 10.6 assists per set, 1.4 blocks per set, 1.4 service aces per set, and 17.2 digs per set. The Eagles have a .143 attacking percentage.

Avila is ranked 40th in the NAIA in kills (892), 12th in errors (479), 20th in total attacks (2,888), 39th in assists (830), 40th in reception errors (128), 20th in digs (1,349), 40th in digs per set (17.2), 31st in block errors (36), and 45th in ball handling errors (21).

D'Ovion Williams leads Avila in kills (240) and is averaging (3.1 per set). Chloe Brundick is the team's leader in assists (438) and is averaging 5.6 per set. Chase Kalleevig is the Eagles' leader in service aces with 28. Abigail Blake leads AU in digs with 365 and is averaging 4.6 per set. Williams leads the team in blocks with 64, a 0.8 per set average.
