Box Score OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's volleyball team avenged an early season loss to Kansas Wesleyan University by taking a 3-0; 25-22, 25-16, 27-25; victory over the Coyotes on Saturday night in Wilson Field House.
How it Happened
- Kansas Wesleyan led for most of set one and had a 20-15 lead over that Braves. Ottawa responded by scoring three straight points and was within 20-18 after a Kennedi Wyrick service ace. KWU scored the next point, taking a 21-18 lead. The Braves scored the next five points, taking a 23-21 lead over KWU. The Coyotes scored the next point to cut OU's lead to 23-22. That is the last point that KWU scored the rest of the set. Ottawa took a 24-22 lead on a Coyote attacking error and won the set on a kill by Alexa Boyle, 25-22.
- OU jumped out to a 10-6 lead over Kansas Wesleyan in set two. A block by Kaitlyn Haller and Ellie Rogers, a KWU attacking error, and a block by Haller and Valdez increased the Brave lead to 13-7. KWU attempted to rally, cutting OU's lead to 17-13. That is all the closer the Coyotes would get to the Braves. OU ended the set on an 8-3 run, taking a 25-16 victory.
- The Braves raced out to an 8-2 lead in set three. Kansas Wesleyan rallied, taking a 15-13 lead. Ottawa scored the next three point and led 16-15 on a block by Valdez and Haylee O'Meara. The Coyotes responded with a 5-1 run to lead 20-17. The Braves answered, taking a 24-22 lead on a block by Valdez and Boyle. KWU answered with two straight points to tie the set, 24-24. The teams exchanged points and the set was tied once more, 25-25. Ottawa was able to take the set, scoring the final two points to take the 27-25 victory.
