The Braves lost their second straight game with an 84-81 loss to no. 11 Southwestern College in Winfield on Saturday evening. Ottawa shot 50 percent from the floor, 33.3 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 61.9 percent from the free throw line. OU had four players in double figures, led by
Amil Fields double-double. He scored 22 points and pulled down 12 rebounds.
Ty Bland scored 20 points,
Ian Moore finished the game with 13 points, and
Cody Fredrickson scored 10 points. Bland led OU with two assists. Buggage and Bland finished with two steals apiece.
In its three victories, OU is averaging 93 points while opponents are scoring 77.7. Ottawa is shooting 47.2 percent from the floor, 34.8 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 67.7 percent from the free throw line. OU is also shooting almost five more free throws per game than the opponent in those game. Opponents are shooting 40.3 percent from the floor, 29 percent from behind the arc, and 67.3 percent from the free throw line.
In Ottawa's four losses, OU is averaging 73 points per game while the opponent is scoring 85.8. Tuesday's game between Ottawa University and McPherson College in the 180th meeting between the two teams. Ottawa leads the series, 113-66, and the Braves are on a three game winning streak against the Bulldogs. OU is 3-2 versus the Bulldogs in the teams last games in Wilson Field House.
Ottawa won both regular season games between the teams last season. OU took a 93-85 win over McPherson in Wilson Field House on Dec. 13, 2021. The Braves then won the game on Feb. 9, 2022 at The Sport Center in McPherson, 89-68.
In the win over McPherson on Feb. 9 at The Sport Center, Ottawa shot 52.4 percent from the floor, 35 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 88.9 percent from the free throw line. Andre Jackson and Jaquan Daniels finished the game with 19 points apiece.
Tristen Hull was one rebound away from a double-double, finishing with 18 points and five rebounds.
Ty Bland came off the bench to score 10 points. Jackson Mallory and Jackson each finished the game with four assists.
Ian Moore led the Braves with two steals and two blocks.
The first meeting between the two teams happened in 1910. Ottawa won the game 40-25.

In the loss to the Eagles, MC shot 25.7 percent from the floor, 25 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 72.7 percent from the free throw line. Owen Braxmeyer led the Bulldogs with 18 points on 6-for-16 shooting from the floor. Jerome Mabry and Braxmyer led the team with eight rebounds apiece.
In the loss to Oklahoma Wesleyan last Saturday, McPherson has its worst shooting performance of the season, (18-for-70) 25.7 percent. The Bulldogs also tied for its lowest total of 3-pt field goals made in a game this season with six. Prior to that, MC had been making 10.3 3-pt field goals per game.
Owen Braxmeyer leads McPherson in scoring (13.1) and rebounding (8.0). Yaniel Vidal is the team's leader in assists (2.7), KJ Marshall is MC's leader in blocks (0.7) per game, and Curtis Rose leads the Bulldogs in steals (1.6) per game.
