HASTINGS, Neb. – The Ottawa University women's basketball team fell 72-53 to Hastings College on Saturday afternoon at Lynn Farrell Arena in its final game of the Hastings College.
With the game tied 9-9, with 3:32 to go in the first quarter, Hastings scored the next seven points to take a 16-9 lead over the Braves. A basket by
Hailey Henry cut the deficit to 16-11 with 1:10 on the clock.
Hastings scored the next basket to increase its lead to 18-11. Two
Nicole Brown free throws put OU within 18-13 with 10 second left in the first quarter. Hastings was able to score the final basket of the quarter, a jumper at the buzzer, to take a 20-13 lead into the second.
In the second quarter, Ottawa was outscored 17-9. The Braves were within five points, 23-18, after a 3-pt field goal by
Maria Moore at the 6:44 mark. Hastings responded by ending the quarter on a 14-4 run to take a 37-22 lead into the locker room.
In the second half, the Braves were not able to cut into the Hastings lead and the Broncos took the 72-53 victory.
