WICHITA, Kan. –
Jordan Lomeli of the #7 Ottawa University wrestling team was voted the week one KCAC Wrestler of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday.
The sophomore from Shawnee, Oklahoma earns his first career weekly honor after going 6-1 this week in two different events. The Braves took down Baker University 26-12 on Tuesday in the opening dual of the season. Lomeli wrestled a weight class up at 174lbs, defeating Wildcats' Joey Ewalt in a 9-6 decision.
Lomeli got in plenty of wrestling on Sunday, competing at 165lbs in the Dan Harris Open hosted by Baker University. Lomeli went 5-1 on the day, with his only loss coming to a NCAA DII opponent in Will Kuster from Drury University. Lomeli was forced to withdraw from the tournament after reaching the six-match maximum.
