Braves and Coyotes Meet in Salina on Wednesday

The Braves fell last Saturday night to Friends University, 61-49, at the Garvey Center. Ottawa shot 29.7 percent from the floor, 27.6 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 50 percent from the free throw line. Cierra Brown came off the bench lead the Braves in scoring with 15 points. She also had six assists. Nicole Brown led the Braves in rebounding with eight. Hailey Henry finished the game with three steals.

Nicole Brown leads the Braves in scoring (14.8) and rebounding (11.6). Ahoneste Walker leads the team in assists (2.2), Nicole Brown is the team's leader in blocks (1.7), and Hailey Henry and Cierra Brown led OU in steals (1.1) per game.

Through 11 games, the Braves are averaging 70.6 points, 43.3 rebounds, and 12.7 assists per game. OU is shooting 42.6 percent from the floor, 31.8 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 75 percent from the free throw line.

OU's seven wins this season is just one win away from tying the eight that the Braves won a season ago.

Wednesday's game is the 89th meeting between the two teams. The series is tied 44-44 with Kansas Wesleyan University winning the last two games. KWU defeated the Braves 73-68 in double overtime in Mabee Arena on Nov. 27. The Coyotes then took an 83-75 victory over OU in Wilson Field House on Jan. 22.

The first meeting between the two teams took place in 1907. Ottawa won the game 21-16.

OU has lost seven straight games on the road in Salina. Its last victory over the Coyotes in Mabee Arena was on Feb. 13, 2016. OU won the game 67-56. That win is the Braves only win in Mabee Arena. OU is 1-14 against Kansas Wesleyan in Mabee Arena.

Kansas Wesleyan University is 4-5 overall and 4-1 in the KCAC. The Coyotes have won four straight games after losing to Bethany on Nov. 16 to open KCAC play, 74-64, in Salina. KWU is 3-2 at home this season.

KWU enters Wednesday night's game coming off a 64-53 victory over Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Salina. The Coyotes held the Eagles to 15 first half points to lead 29-15 at the half. Kansas Wesleyan shot 38.6 percent from the floor, 35.7 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 83.3 percent from the free throw line. LaMyah Ricks led KWU in scoring with 14 points. Tylieea Wallace finished the game with a double-double, 13 points and 17 rebounds. Six of those rebounds were offensive.

Through nine games, KWU is averaging 71 points, 38.2 rebounds, and 13.1 assists per game. The Coyotes are shooting 40.3 percent from the floor, 32.1 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 68.2 percent from the free throw line.
