Men's Soccer Hosts Kansas Wesleyan on Friday for 2022 KCAC Opener

OTTAWA, Kan. -- The Ottawa University men's soccer team returns to Adventhealth Field for the last of three straight home matches, hosting Kansas Wesleyan in the 2022 KCAC opener.
  • Ottawa is coming off a 3-0 loss to a quality Park Pirates squad. Prior to the Park match, the Braves were on a roll, winning the last three matches. OU had a succesful road trip in Iowa, defeating Dordt and Northwestern in a period of two days. Ottawa followed with a 6-0 dismantling of William Woods.

  • The Coyotes enter the matchup with a 1-3-1 record, losing 2-1 against Midland in their last match. Ottawa will have to keep an eye on leading scorers Steven Moya and Brandon Oaks, each tallying two goals for the Coyotes.

  • During the Braves 'three-game winning streak, Ottawa scored 13 goals while only allowing two. Bence Molnar leads OU in goals(6), assists(4), and points(16). He is already at the halfway mark of his season tally last year (12 goals), and still has 13 games left to play in the regular season. Slobodan Novicevic is second on the team with three goals, and second with three assists.

  • Ottawa trails the overall series 5-11-3, but have won the last three including a 4-3 win in their last matchup last season. The Coyotes will have to keep track of Ottawa's leading scorer Bence Molnar, who scored his first career hat-trick against the Coyotes in last season's matchup.

  • Up Next: The Braves travel to Sterling on Wednesday, Sep. 21 for a 4 p.m. matchup against the Warriors.
