Men's Soccer in Iowa for Weekend Doubleheader

OTTAWA, Kan. -- The Ottawa University men's soccer team heads to Iowa for a weekend doubleheader, starting with Northwestern today at 5 pm. The Braves wrap up the road trip with Dordt tomorrow at 4 pm.
  • Both teams are looking for the first win of the 2022 season. Northwestern is 0-2 so far this season, with two losses against Oregon schools Corban and Northwest. Ottawa is coming off a 1-1 tie to Oklahoma Panhandle following a loss to #9 MidAmerica Nazarene.

  • The Red Raiders have been held scoreless while allowing opponents to score an average of two goals per game to begin the season.

  • The Ottawa men's soccer team enters the 2022 season under new stewardship, with head coach James Cottage taking over the program. Cottage comes to Ottawa from familiar Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Bethel College, completing his fourth season at the helm for the Threshers in 2021. During his tenure, Cottage coached eight All-KCAC athletes while improvements were made each year including reaching the KCAC playoffs each of the last two seasons. In 2021, the Threshers recorded their highest win total in over a decade while stringing together five straight wins along the way.

  • The 2022 OU men's soccer team have 14 returners from last season, while adding over 20 new faces to the squad.
