ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- The Ottawa University women's soccer team dropped their first of two matches this weekend, with a 2-0 loss to Northwestern on Friday night in Orange City, Iowa.
The Braves essentially played catchup from the get go, following a Red Raiders opening goal on their first shot in the just fourth minute. The Braves had a chance of their own in the 13th minute, when a
Denaya Evans shot forced a save from Raiders goalkeeper Kaelin Alons. Ottawa locked down defensively the remainder of the half, with multiple blocked shots from the backline and three saves from goalkeeper
Willow Good. The Braves headed into halftime still down 1-0.Â
Northwestern was able to double their lead 15 minutes into the second half, putting OU down 2-0. The Braves were forced to push the initiative and play more offensively, which resulted in six shots in the final 30 minutes. Despite the uptick in tempo, the Braves were unfortunately unable to get anything on goal as the Raiders held on for the 2-0 win.
Up Next: The Braves have a quick turnaround, heading to Sioux Center, Iowa for a 6 pm matchup against Dordt.Â
