#RV Braves Face Tough Road Test on Saturday

The Braves moved to 2-0 in KCAC play with a 3-0; 26-24, 25-17, 25-16; victory over the University of Saint Mary on Tuesday night at the Ryan Sports Center. Ottawa finished the match with 36 kills, a .171 attacking percentage, 35 assists, five service aces, 68 digs, and 11 team blocks.

Ottawa head coach, Melissa Blessington, earned career win no. 300 with OU's victory over Saint Mary on Tuesday night. She has an overall coaching record of 300-136 and has a record of 230-94 in her nine seasons at OU.

Through 18 matches, the Braves are averaging 11.7 kills per set, 10.8 assists per set, 2.1 blocks per set, 1.4 service aces per set, and 17.8 digs per set. OU has a .180 attacking percentage.

Ottawa is ranked 26th in the NAIA in digs (1,194), 28th in digs per set (17.8), 17th in solo blocks (50), 36th in block assists (187), 19th in total blocks (144), 24th in blocks per set (2.1), and 35th in ball handling errors (22).

Radaisy Valdez leads the Braves in kills with 227, Haylee O'Meara is OU's leader in assists (336), Jadore Hayes is the team's leader in service aces (24) and digs (321), and Elli Rogers is the Braves' leader in blocks with 60.

Saturday's match is the second meeting between Ottawa and the University of Jamestown. The first meeting between the two teams took place on Aug. 31 2018. Ottawa lost to, then no. 25, Jamestown, 3-2. Hastings College leads the series with the Braves 2-1. OU earned its first victory over the Broncos at the Ottawa Invitational on Sept. 16 in Wilson Field House, 3-0; 25-16, 25-23, 25-14. The first meeting between Ottawa and Hastings happened on Sept. 1, 2017 in Hastings. The Broncos, ranked no. 1 in the NAIA defeated OU 3-0; 21-25, 22-25, 14-25.

In the win over Hastings on Sept. 16, the Braves finished the three set match with 39 kills, a .205 attacking percentage, 38 assists, eight service aces, 61 digs, and six team blocks. Radaisy Valdez and Kaitlyn Haller led the Braves with 10 kills apiece. Haller had a double-double, finishing with 10 assists. Haylee O'Meara had a double-double as well. She had 23 assists and 13 digs. Jadore Hayes led OU with 14 digs. Kennedi Wyrick had 10 digs. Elli Rogers and Valdez led OU with three blocks apiece.

The University of Jamestown is 15-1 overall and 4-0 in the GPAC. The Jimmies are ranked no. 2 in the NAIA Women's Volleyball Coaches Top 25 Poll. Jamestown opened the season with a 3-1 loss to Eastern Oregon and have since reeled off 15 straight victories. The Jimmies have only dropped two sets in their last six matches.

Through 16 matches, Jamestown is averaging 13.1 kills per set, 12.5 assists per set, 1.9 blocks per set, 1.5 service aces per set, and 18.6 digs per set. The Jimmies have a .247 attacking percentage.

Jamestown is ranked 23rd in the NAIA in kills per set (13.1), eighth in attacking percentage (.247), 15th in assists per set (12.5), 20th in service errors (152), 15th in digs per set (18.6), 42nd in blocks per set (1.9), and fourth in blocking errors (69).

Kallie Hegerle leads Jamestown in kills (150) and assists (327). Ellie Holen is the team's leader in service aces (21) and digs (333). Lexi Olson is the Jimmies' leader in blocks (58).

Hastings College has an overall record of 15-5 and a 4-2 mark in the GPAC. The Broncos have won four straight matches, only dropping one set, against William Woods (3-0), Friends (3-0), Doane (3-1), and Briar Cliff (3-0).

Through 20 matches, Hastings is averaging 12.7 kills per set, 11.7 assists per set, 2.1 blocks per set, 1.3 service aces per set, and 15.07 digs per set.

The Broncos are ranked 10th in the NAIA in kills (945), 38th in kills per set (12.7), 38th in errors (391), 23rd in total attacks (2,595), 35th in attacking percentage (.213), 12th in assists (872), 43rd in assists per set (11.7), 35th in service errors (139), 37th in digs (1,115), 10th in solo blocks (59), 22nd in block assists (204), 10th in total blocks (161), and 21st in blocks per set (2.1).

Marlee Taylor leads the Broncos in kills with 201. Makenna Asher is the team's leader in assists (545) and service aces (21). Miriam Miller is HC's leader in digs (286) and Rachel Hefta is the Broncos' leader in blocks (59).
