Braves and Moundbuilders Meet in Wilson Field House on Saturday

Ottawa lost its third straight game with a 52-40 overtime loss to Tabor College last Saturday night in Tabor Gymnasium. The Braves shot 34.9 percent from the floor, 23.1 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 63.6 percent from the free throw line. OU had three players in double figures led by Nicole Brown with 12 points and 15 rebounds. She also had two blocks. Jordan Bianco finished the game with 11 points and Cierra Brown scored 10 points.

Nicole Brown leads OU in scoring (13.7), rebounding (10.9), and blocks (2.1). Cierra Browns is OU's leader in assist (2.1) and steals (1.5).

In OU's three game losing streak, Ottawa is averaging 54.7 points per game while opponents are scoring 77.3 points. The Braves are shooting 33.3 percent from the floor, 23.2 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 69.5 percent from the free throw line. Opponents are shooting 44.6 percent from the floor, 32.8 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 75.4 percent from the free throw line.

In the Braves' last three games, OU is averaging 23 turnovers per game while opponents are turning the ball over 15.6.

In Ottawa's eight losses this season, OU is averaging 20.5 turnovers per game and is shooting 36.5 percent from the floor. In its 10 victories, the Braves are averaging 17.2 turnovers per game and is shooting 45.5 percent from the floor.

Ottawa is 7-1 in Wilson Field House this season with its lone loss coming against (22) Sterling College on January 11. OU is averaging 76.1 points while holding opponents to 55.4 points per game. The Braves are shooting 41.9 percent from the floor, 30.2 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 79.7 percent from the free throw line.

This season, the Braves are averaging 68.3 points per game, 40.3 rebounds, and 12.7 assists per game. They are shooting 41.8 percent from the floor, 30.3 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 73.7 percent from the floor.

OU is ranked 25th in the NAIA in free throw percentage (.737), 26th in defensive rebounds per game (29.8), 21st in blocks per game (3.8), and 12th in opponent field goal percentage (.269).

Saturday is the 91st meeting between Ottawa University and Southwestern College. Southwestern leads the series 55-34-1. OU is 8-2 in its last five games against the Moundbuilders and defeated SWC 83-36 in Stewart Field House on Nov. 19. The very first meeting between the two teams happened on Feb. 8, 1909 in Winfield. The game finished in a tie, 16-16.

Ottawa has won six straight against Southwestern in Wilson Field House. OU's last loss to SWC at home was on Dec. 10, 2015. Southwestern won the game 61-48.

In the win over Southwestern on Nov. 19 in Winfield, Ottawa finished the game shooting 48.4 percent from the floor, 30 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 77.3 percent from the free throw line. Cierra Brown came of the bench to lead the team in scoring with 18 points on 8-for-11 shooting from the floor. Nicole Brown did not play in the game due to an injury.

Southwestern College is 4-15 overall, 1-12 in the KCAC, and 0-6 on the road this season. The Moundbuilders earned its first KCAC victory of the season with a 61-49 win over Avila on January 14 in Winfield. Southwestern enters Saturday's game coming off a 63-54 loss to Oklahoma Wesleyan on Wednesday in Stewart Field House.

The Moundbuilders shot 43.2 percent from the floor, 30.8 percent from the free throw line, and 70.6 percent from the free throw line. Macey Pond led SWC with 15 points and Denisha Anderson scored 13 points. Southwestern had 25 turnovers to Oklahoma Wesleyan's 13.

This season, Southwestern is averaging 53.3 points, 36.9 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game. The Moundbuilders are shooting 28.9 percent from the floor, 26.2 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 61.6 percent from the free throw line.

The Moundbuilders are ranked 17th in the NAIA in personal fouls per game (13.8).

Macey Pond is the team's leader in scoring (12.2), D'Shonda Hunt is SWC's leader in rebounding (8.4), Pond leads the Moundbuilders in assists (2), Madi Jones leads the team in blocks (0.9), and Pond is Southwestern's leader in steals (2.2) per game.

In road games this season, Southwestern is averaging 44.8 points and shooting 25.8 percent from the floor, 22.1 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 59.4 percent from the free throw line. They are also turning the ball over 20.3 times per game.

The last time Southwestern won a road KCAC game was on Feb. 1, 2021 at Avila in Kansas City, Mo. Southwestern won the game 53-45. That is 19 straight road conference losses by the Moundbuilders.
