Box Score KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The (23) Ottawa University women's volleyball team was defeated 3-0; 25-17, 25-15, 27-25; by Rockhurst University on Tuesday evening at Mason-Halpin Field House.
How it Happened
- Ottawa had a 13-10 lead over Rockhurst in set one. The Hawks rallied, scoring the next four points to take a 14-13 lead over the Braves. Ottawa scored the next point, tying the set at 14 all. The teams exchanged points and the set was tied, 17-17, on a Katelyn Elstun kill. Rockhurst responded by scoring the final eight points of the set, taking the 25-17 victory.
- In set two, Ottawa took a 5-2 lead over Rockhurst after kills by Kira Cherry and Blythe Manson. The Hawks rallied, taking an 11-8 lead over the Braves. Ottawa answered by scoring the next four points and took a 12-11 lead over Rockhurst on a RU attacking error. The Hawks responded with a 10-3 run to take a 22-14 lead over OU. Ottawa was not able to rally and Rockhurst took the 25-15 victory.
- Rockhurst took a 4-1 lead over the Braves to open set three. Ottawa rallied, taking a 9-7 lead on a Radaisy Valdez kill. Rockhurst answered with six straight points, taking a 13-9 lead over the Braves. OU did not go away and rallied to tie the set at 16-16 on a Reile Payne kill. The set went back and forth and with Ottawa taking a 24-23 on a Valdez kill. Rockhurst tied the set on the next point, 24-24. OU retook the lead, 25-24 on a block by Manson and Payne. The Hawks, however, scored the next three points to take set 27-25.
