TEXARKANA, Texas – The Ottawa University men's basketball team defeated Texas A&M – Texarkana 85-77 on Saturday afternoon.
The first half went back and forth with Ottawa taking a 26-24 lead over TAMT with 8:26 remaining on the clock. The Braves were able to put together a 9-2 run and led 35-26 after a 3-pt field goal by
Blake Ferguson.
The Eagles rallied and tied the game at 39 all with 1:43 on the clock. OU retook the lead on its next offensive possession, a jumper by
Jayden Hibbitt, 41-39. TAMT was able to tie the game 20 seconds later on two free throws by Levelle Zeigler and the game was tied at the half, 41-41.
TAMT scored the first five points of the second half to take a 46-41 lead. Responded by scoring six straight to take its first lead of the second half on dunk by
Kamren Woods, 47-46, with 17:43 left in the game.
The Eagles retook the lead and pushed it to 60-54 at the 12:10 mark. The Braves picked up the defensive intensity and for the next 6:57, OU outscored TAMT 21-3 to take a 75-63 lead.
The Braves did not allow TAMT to rally in the final five minutes of the game, taking the 85-77 victory.
