MCPHERSON, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's basketball team fell 93-81 to McPherson College on Saturday night at the Sport Center.
McPherson opened the game on a 17-9 run. Ottawa answered with a run of its own, 19-8, to take a 29-25 lead over MC on a 3-pt field goal by
Payton Kaiser with 3:45 left in the half.
The Bulldogs scored the next five points, retaking the lead 30-29. Two free throws from
Jayden Hibbitt with 2:22 on the clock gave OU a 31-30 lead. McPherson took the lead once more on three free throws by Antonio Watson, 33-31.
The Braves tied the game at 33 all on a jumper by Hibbitt with 1:55 left in the half. McPherson answered with two Watson free throws to give the Bulldogs a 35-33 lead. After defensive stops by both teams, Ottawa had the ball with 18 seconds left in the half.
Amil Fields hit a three at the buzz to give the Braves a 36-35 lead at the half.
Just like the start of the first half, McPherson opened the second half on a run. This one was 17-5, to give the Bulldogs a 52-40 lead at the 15:40 mark in the second half.
Ottawa cut into the McPherson lead and with 12:16 on the clock, OU was within 56-50 after a
Deondre Buggage basket. The Bulldogs responded by putting together its third run of the game, this one 18-7, to take a 74-57 lead with 8:14 left in the game.
McPherson continued increase its lead and led by 20 points, 91-71 with 3:46 on the clock. With 2:54 remaining in the contest, both teams emptied their benches and McPherson took the 91-83 victory.

- The Braves had three players in double figures, led by Deondre Buggage's 16 points.
