Braves and Saint Mary Meet in Wilson Field House on Saturday

Ottawa won its third straight game, taking a 74-51 victory over Oklahoma Wesleyan University last Saturday night in Wilson Field House. The win is OU's seventh in its last 10 games.

OU is led in scoring (16.2), rebounding (11.5), and blocks (1.8) by Nicole Brown. Cierra Brown leads the Braves in assists (2.2) and steals (1.6) per game.

In Ottawa's last 10 games, the Braves are averaging 67 points while holding opponents to 60.4 points per game. OU is shooting 41.2 percent from the floor and had shot 46 more free throws that its opponents. Nicole Brown is averaging a double-double, 19.5 points and 12.8 rebounds per game. Cierra Brown is scoring 15.9 points  per game and almost averaging two steals (1.7) per game.

The Braves are 10-3 in Wilson Field House this season and 7-3 in home KCAC games. OU is outscoring opponents by 15 points per game at home (72-56.7) and shooting 41.1 percent from the floor while opponents are shooting 34.4 percent.

Ottawa and the University of Saint Mary are tied for fifth in the KCAC with a record of 13-8. Saint Mary won the first meeting this season in Leavenworth, 81-58, on Jan. 7.

Saturday will be the 57th meeting between Ottawa University and the University of Saint Mary. USM broke the Braves three game winning streak against the Spires on Jan. 7 with an 81-58 victory over OU at the Ryan Sport Center in Leavenworth.

The first meeting between the two teams happened on Nov. 12, 1994 in Wilson Field House. OU won the game, 95-33.  

The Braves are 3-2 in its last five games in Wilson Field House against Saint Mary. OU won the last game at home against USM, 81-57, on Nov. 23, 2021.

This season the Braves are averaging 68.9 points, 39.6 rebounds, and 13.1 assists per game. OU is shooting 41.8 percent from the floor, 30 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 73 percent from the free throw line.

Ottawa is ranked 36th in the NAIA in free throw percentage (.730), 42nd in defensive rebounds per game (28.8), and 43rd in opponent field goal percentage (.364).

The University of Saint Mary is 17-10 overall, 13-8 in the KCAC, 6-7 on the road this season and is on a two game winning streak. The Spires enter Saturday's game coming off victories over Avila (72-51) on Feb. 11 and Oklahoma Wesleyan (62-51) on Feb. 15.

In the win over OKWU, USM held the Eagles to seven second quarter points. The Spires shot 44 percent from the floor, 33.3 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 61.9 percent from the free throw line. Jerrica Johnson led USM with 21 points on 8-for-9 shooting from the floor.

Jerrica Johnson leads Saint Mary in scoring (12.8), Tanea Sims is USM's leader in rebounding (5.6), Alanis Delgado is the team's leader in assists (3), Alex Specht leads USM in blocks (2.3), and Johnson is the team's leader in steals (1.3).

This season, USM is averaging 71.5 points, 36.3 rebounds, and 12.4 assists per game. They are shooting 42.3 percent from the floor, 30.3 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 73.5 percent from the free throw line.

The Spires are ranked 48th in the NAIA in points (1,930), 36th in 3-pt field goals made per game (7.5), 27th in 3-pt field goals attempted per game (24.8), 29th in free throw percentage (73.5), and 13th in blocks per game (4.1).
