Braves Fall in Four to Morningside

OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's volleyball team fell 3-1; 25-18, 25-20, 20-25, 25-16; to Morningside University on Thursday evening in Wilson Field House.

How it Happened
  • Morningside took the early 6-5 lead over the Braves in set one. Ottawa scored the next three points on a kill by Akeil Williams, a MU attacking error and Williams service ace to take an 8-6 lead. The Mustangs answered with a 5-0 run, taking an 11-8 lead over OU. Ottawa tried to rally and cut the deficit to 18-16. That is all the closer the Braves were able to get as Morningside ended the set on a 7-2 run, taking a 25-18 victory.
  • The Braves found themselves down early in set two, 6-1. The Braves cut into the Mustang lead and after a William service ace, Ottawa was within 11-8. Morningside, however, scored six of the next nine points to take a 17-11 lead over OU. The Braves were not able to rally and Morningside took the 25-20 victory.
  • Ottawa took an 8-5 lead in set three after kills by Williams and Macort Pickup. Two straight Williams kills and a service ace by Jimmy Flores gave OU a 17-10 lead. The Braves did not allow Morningside to stage a comeback and OU took the set, 25-20.
  • Morningside took a 7-3 lead over the Braves to open set four. Ottawa was not able to recover from its slow start and the Mustangs took the 25-16 victory.
