Braves Host Central Christian, KWU, and Clarke

The Braves lost its seventh straight match last Thursday in Wilson Field House, 3-1, to Morningside University. Ottawa finished the match with 30 kills, a .088 attacking percentage, 27 assists, eight service aces, 32 digs, and four team blocks. Akeil Williams was one dig away from a double-double. He had 12 kills, nine digs, and four blocks. Andrew Salinas led the Braves with 21 assists.

Akeil Williams leads the Braves in kills (2.7), service aces (0.3), and blocks (1) per set. Andrew Salinas is OU's leader in assists (4.3) per set and Kevin Davidson leads the team in digs (2.3) per set.

Through nine matches this season, Ottawa is averaging 8.1 kills per set, 7.5 assists per set, 1.6 blocks per set, 1.3 service aces per set, and 9.1 digs per set. The Braves have a .121 attacking percentage.

Ottawa is ranked 46th in the NAIA in service aces (45), 37th in service aces per set (1.3), 48th in receptions (636), 15th in reception errors (80), 49th in digs (303), 28th in digs per set (9.1), 41st in solo blocks (19), 49th in block assists (73), 49th in total blocks (56), 37th in blocks per set (1.6), 20th in blocking errors (15), and eighth in ball handling errors (14).

Friday is the fourth meeting between Ottawa University and Central Christian College. Ottawa leads the series, 3-0 and has not dropped a set to the Tigers in the previous three meetings. The last time the two teams met was on March 26, 2022 in Wilson Field House in the quarterfinals of the GPAC Tournament. Ottawa won the match 3-0, 25-11, 25-13, 25-17.

Saturday is the sixth meeting between Ottawa University and Clarke University. Ottawa leads the series, 3-2 but CU won the last meeting on Jan. 29 at Clarke, 3-0. The first meeting between the two teams took place on Feb. 6, 2016. Then ranked no. 3 in the NAIA, Clarke won the match 3-0.

Ottawa and Kansas Wesleyan will be meeting for the fourth time in program history on Saturday afternoon. The Coyotes won the first match this season, 3-1 in Salina on Feb. 3. In OU's loss to KWU, Ottawa finished the match with 36 kills, a .174 attacking percentage, 36 assists, eight service aces, 48 digs, and eight team blocks.

Central Christian College is 0-13 overall and 0-6 in the GPAC. The Tigers enter Friday night's match coming off a 3-0 loss to no. 11 University of Jamestown on Feb. 25 in McPherson.

Through 13 matches, the Tigers are averaging 4.2 kills per set, 3.6 assists per set, 0.6 blocks per set, 0.7 service aces per set, and 5.7 digs per set. CCC has a -.071 attacking percentage.

Kolby Campbell leads Central Christian in kills (1.6) and digs (1.5) per set. LA DeBerry is the team's leader in assists (2.8) and service aces (0.2) per set. Joel Creary is CCC's leader in blocks (0.3) per set.

Central Christian is ranked 49th in the NAIA in service errors (124), 36th in receptions (773), first in reception errors (160), 42nd in blocking errors (10), and 11th in ball handling errors (12).

Clarke University is 6-10 overall, 4-8 in the HAAC, and is 3-3 on the road this season. The Pride enter Saturday's match coming off a 3-1 loss to no. 12 Grand View University on Tuesday evening.

Through 16 matches this season, the Pride is averaging 9.4 kills per set, 8.7 assists per set, 2.03 blocks per set, 1.09 service aces per set, and 8.5 digs per set. CU has a .168 attacking percentage.

Tye Ojala leads the team in kills (2.09) per set and Erik Schmidt is the team's leader in assists (7.8) per set. Nick Palatine is CU's leader in service aces (13) and digs (2.6) per set. Stephen Lewandowski is Clarke's leader in blocks (1.1) per set.

Clarke is ranked 26th in the NAIA in kills (521), 47th in kills per set (9.4), 22nd in errors (279), 20th in total attacks (1,437), 40th in attacking percentage (.168), 25th in assists (482), 47th in assists per set (8.7), 35th in service aces (60), 42nd in service errors (143), 50th in service aces per set (1.09), 16th in receptions (1,004), fifth in reception errors (107), 23rd in digs (470), 45th in digs per set (8.5), 17th in solo blocks (34), ninth in block assists (155), 11th in total blocks (112), 22nd in blocks per set (2.03), 16th in block errors (17), 35th in ball handling errors (5), 25th in points (692.5), and 45th in points per set (12.6).

Kansas Wesleyan University is 6-11 overall, 2-5 in the GPAC, and 2-5 on the road this season. The Coyotes enter Saturday's match coming off a 3-2 victory over the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy on Tuesday night.

Through 17 matches, the Coyotes are averaging 9.0 kills per set, 7.9 assists per set, 1.5 blocks per set, 1.4 service aces per set, and 9.1 digs per set. KWU has a .129 attacking percentage.

Viet Nguyen leads KWU in kills (2.2), Marcus Taylor is the team's leader in assists (6.2), Jeremy Lapeze leads the Coyotes in service aces (0.3), Jeremy Lapeze is KWU's leads in digs (2.7), and Kahlib Lawrence leads the team in blocks (0.7) per set.
