OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's volleyball team fell 3-0; 2-519, 25-19, 25-21 to nationally ranked University of Jamestown on Saturday afternoon in Wilson Field House.
How it Happened
- Jamestown jumped out to a 6-1 lead over the Braves in set one. Ottawa chipped away at the Jimmie lead and after a Macort Pickup kill, OU was within 19-17. Jamestown answered with a 4-0 run, taking a 23-17 lead over the Braves. Ottawa was not able to rally and Jamestown took the 25-19 victory.
- The start of set two went back and forth with the Braves taking a 9-8 lead on a Jimmie attacking error. Jamestown scored three straight points to retake the lead 11-9. A Grant Younie kill put OU within 11-10. UJ increased its lead to 16-12 over the Braves. The Braves were not able to stage a comeback and Jamestown took the 25-19 victory.
- Kills by Akeil Williams and Kevin Davidson, along with a block from Williams and a Younie service ace gave OU a 4-2 lead in set three. A kill by Michal Bak increased the OU lead to 7-4. Jamestown scored the next three point, tying the set at seven all. The teams exchanged points and the set was tied at 15-15 on a Pickup kill. Jamestown scored the next two points to take a 17-15 lead. Younie's kill put OU within one point, 17-16. That is all the closer OU would get to the Jimmies as Jamestown took the 25-21 victory.
