The Braves have won five straight games to open the 2023 season with their 41-0 victory over Cottey College on Wednesday night at Logan Field in Nevada, Mo. OU finished the game with 287 yards of offense while holding the Comets to 31 yards.
Madysen Carrera went 13-for-22 through the air for 173 yards and four touchdowns. Carrera also led OU with 56 yards rushing, averaging 9.3 yards per carry.
Bailey Hodgins led OU with four receptions. She also had one touchdown reception.
Jazlyn Camacho finished with three receptions with a team high 50 receiving yards. She also had one touchdown reception.
Mandolyn Scalisi and
Tatiana Dos Santos had the other two touchdown receptions.
Dejonice Parris led OU with four tackles and one sack.
Abby Brown,
Faron Malouff and
Susann Kaufmann each had an interception.
Madysen Carrera was named KCAC Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts in OU's victory over Midland. She went 26-for-37 through the air for 288 yards and three touchdowns. She completed 70.2 percent of her passes and rushed for 48 yards.
Addison Orsborn earned KCAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for her play in OU's win over the Warriors. She had seven tackles and three sacks in OU's win against Midland University last Saturday night. On Midland's second offensive possession of the game, Orsborn sacked the MU quarterback, forcing a Warrior punt. Her second sack was on a fourth and four on the Warriors' third offensive possession of the game. She sacked the MU quarterback short of the zone to gain, giving the Brave offense back the ball on Midland's side of the field.
Ottawa had four Braves named to the 2023 U.S. Women's Flag National Team. They are
Jazlyn Camacho,
Alyssa Linkous, and
Addison Orsborn. OU head coach,
Liz Sowers, was named the team's assistant coach. The team will compete at the 2023Â International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Americas Continental Flag Football Championship from July 5-7 in Charlotte, N.C.
The Braves are averaging 36.2 points per game while holding opponents to 6.4 points per game. Ottawa is averaging 317.2 yards per game, 264 yards through the air and 53.2 rushing.

Kansas Wesleyan University is 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the KCAC this season. The Coyotes have won four straight games and enter Saturday's game coming off a forfeited victory over Bethel College.
The two teams have met already once this season with Ottawa taking the 33-6 victory over the Coyotes in Salina on Feb. 25. The OU defense held the Coyotes to 196 yards of total offense in the win. The Braves finished with a total of 316 yards of offense, 259 yards passing and 57 yards rushing.
