Women's Flag Football Travels to Midland For Regular Season Final

The Braves have won 20 straight games, dating back to the 2022 season, with their 58-0 victory over the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth on Wednesday.

In the win over Saint Mary on Wednesday night in Leavenworth, the Braves finished the game with 245 yards of offense, 100 rushing and 145 passing. The OU defense held the Spires to 99 yards of offense, 98 passing and one yard rushing. Susann Kaufmann led OU with seven tackles. She had two sacks. Jukanie Washington finished with five tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss, two interceptions, on pass break up, and one touchdown. Dejonice Parris and Abby Brown had five tackles apiece. Madysen Carrera rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns. She threw for 145 yards (13-for-22) and four touchdowns. Mandolyn Scalisi led OU with five receptions. Jazlyn Camacho and Alyssa Linkous had two receptions apiece. Camacho finished with two receiving touchdowns.

Abby Brown was named KCAC Defensive Player of the Week for her effort in OU's 39-0 win over Bethel College last Saturday at AdventHealth Field. She had six tackles, one interception, and one pass break up. She returned the interception 17 yards to the Bethel seven yard line. Two plays later OU was in the end zone, with a 32-0 lead over the Threshers.

Through 11 games this season, the Braves are averaging 324.9 yards of offense per game (67.1 rushing/257.8 passing). Ottawa is averaging 42.8 points per game. The OU defense is holding opponents to 162.7 yards of offense, 22.3 rushing and 140.5 passing. Opponents are scoring 5.3 points per game.

OU has six shut outs this season and has not allowed a touchdown since the first quarter of its game at Reinhardt on April 8 in Waleska, Ga.

The Braves are led in rushing by Madysen Carrera. She has rushed for 578 yards on 70 attempts and scored eight touchdowns. Carrera is averaging 8.3 yards per carry and 52.5 rushing yards per game. She also leads the Braves in passing. Carrera is 198-276 for 2,502 yards and 47 touchdowns. She is completing 72 percent of her passes and averaging 227.5 passing yards per game.

Jazlyn Camacho and Alyssa Linkous leads the Braves in receptions with 39 apiece. Camacho has 609 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. She is averaging 60.9 receiving yards per game. Linkous has 582 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. She is averaging 58.2 receiving yards per game.

Abby Brown leads the Braves in tackles with 54. She has seven interceptions and six pass break ups. Dejonice Parris is second on the team in tackles with 32. She has four tackles for loss and five sacks. Addison Orsborn has seven sacks, 29 tackles, two interceptions, and one pass break up. Susann Kaufmann has two interceptions, one pass break up, 29 tackles, and seven sacks.

The Ottawa defense has 23 sacks, 24 tackles for loss, 27 interceptions, and 36 pass break ups.

Midland University is 12-3 overall, 6-3 in the KCAC, is on a three game winning streak and has a record of 4-1 at home. The Warriors last loss came on April 5 in Salina, Kan. against Kansas Wesleyan University. The Coyotes won the game, 21-7.

MU has won three straight at Cottey College (44-0) on April 16, Fort Scott CC (51-12) on April 19 and Cottey College (26-0) on April 19.

In the win over Cottey on April 19, Midland had 214 yards of offense. The Warriors threw for 203 yards and rushed for 11 yards. MU held the Comets to 121 yards of offense, 53 yards passing and 68 yards rushing. Mikaela Nunez went 17-for-31 through the air for 203 yards, one touchdowns, two interceptions, and four sacks. Olivia Dominguez-Millsop led the team with five receptions for 32 yards.

Saturday is the eighth meeting between the two teams. Ottawa leads the series, 7-0. The Braves won the first meeting this season in Ottawa on March 25, 35-12 at AdventHealth Field. This will be the second time that the two teams have played against each other in Fremont, Neb. The first meeting was on April 2, 2021. Ottawa won the game, 34-13.

In Ottawa's win over Midland on March 25, OU finished the game with 375 yards of offense while Midland had 225. OU had 327 yards through the air and 48 on the ground. MU had 221 yards passing and four yards rushing. Madysen Carrera completed .702 percent (26-37) of her passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns. She also had seven rushes for 48 yards. Alyssa Linkous had seven receptions for 84 yards and two touchdowns. Addison Orsborn had seven tackles and three sacks. Nina GraveDePeralta, Abby Brown, and Hailee McKay had four tackles apiece.
