YORK, Neb. – The (16) Ottawa University swept York University on Saturday afternoon, taking game one 7-2 and game two, 13-7.
Madison Bunfill set two school records in her first at bat of game one. She hit her 12th home run of the season and her 28
th career home run to set the OU single season home run record and the OU career home run record. The sweep is OU's eighth conference sweep of the season. Ottawa maintains its one game lead over second place Friends University with one KCAC double header remaining.
Game One
Ottawa took the lead in the top of the first inning.
Katie Enneking walked and then swiped second.
Allison Kearney doubled to right-center, scoring Enneking to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.
Madison Bunfill followed that with her 12
th home run of the season, a two-run shot, to give the Braves a 3-0 lead.
York cut into OU's lead with two runs in the bottom of the first, 3-2. In the top of the fifth inning, Ottawa broke open the game.
Bunfill walked and then scored on a double to right-center by
Emma Melvin to give OU a 4-2 lead.
Hannah Copeland hit an infield single and moved
Elizabeth Palmer, who was pinch running for Melvin, to third.
Cierra Faubion bunted Palmer home and the Braves had a 5-2 lead.
Macey Morris' sacrifice fly scored Copeland to increase the OU lead to 6-2. Ottawa scored one more run in the inning. Faubion scored on a single to right by
Riley Newbold and the Braves had a 7-2 lead.
Ottawa's defense held York scores in the final three innings of play and the Braves took the 7-2 victory.

Ottawa took the lead in the top of the first inning.
Riley Newbold singled to left and then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Katie Enneking.
Allison Kearney's single to center scored Newbold to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.
In the top of the third, Ottawa increased its lead over the Panthers. Newbold walked and swiped second. Enneking walked and OU had runners on first and second. A sacrifice bunt by Kearney scored Newbold and Ottawa had a 2-0 lead. Ottawa then took advantage of a York error,
Madison Bunfill reached first on the Panther miscue and Enneking scored to increase the Ottawa lead to 3-0. Another error by York scored Bunfill and the Braves had a 4-0 lead.
York took advantage of Ottawa's three errors in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs to take a 5-4 lead over Ottawa.
OU answered in the top of the fourth with five runs of its own. The Braves took advantage of two York errors to take a 9-5 lead over the Panthers.
York cut into the Brave lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, 9-7. Ottawa responded with three runs in the top of the sixth. Back-to-back errors by York put Kearney on second and Bunfill on first.
Emma Melvin walked and the Braves had the bases loaded.
Hannah Copeland walked, scoring Kearney and Ottawa had a 10-7 lead.
Emma Ryan's ground out scored Bunfill to increase the Brave lead to 11-7. Melvin scored the final run of the inning for the Braves, she crossed home plate on a wild pitch and Ottawa had a 12-7 lead.
The Braves scored one more run in the game, this one in the top of the seventh. Newbold doubled and moved to third on a throwing error by the Panther center fielder. Enneking's ground out to first scored Newbold and the Braves took the lead and the game, 13-7.
