OTTAWA, Kan. -- The Ottawa Braves and the Missouri Baptist Spartans faced off in the women's lacrosse KCAC Championship match on Saturday, April 22nd, at Spartan Field in St. Louis, Missouri. The Spartans won the game and came away with a convincing 12-4 victory over the Braves.
Missouri Baptist got off to a strong start, scoring the first four goals of the game. Chayleb Deves and Mack Miller each scored in the first quarter, along with Lydia Cornett and Skyler Morrissey. Dinah Hinson scored the Braves' lone goal in the opening quarter to make the score 4-1.
The Spartans continued their offensive dominance in the second quarter, with Mack Miller scoring two more goals and Caroline Karr and Jordan Haeusser each adding a goal to give Missouri Baptist a commanding 8-1 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter, Deves scored her second goal of the game to extend the Spartans' lead to 9-1. Hinson scored her second goal of the game for Ottawa on a power play late in the third quarter to make the score 9-2 heading into the final quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Missouri Baptist's Lydia Cornett and Jordan Haeusser each scored another goal, while Chayleb Deves scored her third goal of the game to bring her season total to 47. Mackenzie Simmons scored the final goal of the game for the Braves, but it was not enough to mount a comeback.
The final score was 12-4 in favor of the Missouri Baptist Spartans. Mack Miller, Chayleb Deves, Jordan Haeusser, Lydia Cornett, and Skyler Morrissey all scored for the Spartans, while Dinah Hinson and Mackenzie Simmons scored for the Braves.
