DAVENPORT, Iowa-- The (RV)Ottawa lacrosse team secured a thrilling victory against St. Ambrose with a final score of 14-11 in an exciting match that took place in Davenport on Thursday evening. The win snapped a two-game losing streak to St. Ambrose dating back to 2019.
The first quarter was a close battle, with both teams trading goals. St. Ambrose struck first with a goal from Lauren Hoesly, but Ottawa quickly responded with goals from Mackenzie Simmons and Dinah Hinson. St. Ambrose fought back, but Ottawa's Meagan Gilstrap and Ashley Santillan found the back of the net, resulting in a 5-5 tie at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Ottawa took a slight lead with goals from Cecily Anderson and Dinah Hinson, but St. Ambrose answered back to keep the game competitive. The score was tied at 7-7 going into halftime.
The third quarter saw Ottawa taking the lead with goals from Mackenzie Simmons and Cecily Anderson, but St. Ambrose kept the pressure on with goals from Hannah Reynolds and Audrey Warner. Going into the fourth quarter, the score was tied at 10-10.
