HENDERSON, Tenn. – The (14) Ottawa University softball team's season ended in the Henderson NAIA Opening Round with a 2-0 loss to (21) Freed-Hardeman in an elimination game on Wednesday afternoon at Tucker Field.
Freed-Hardeman struck first taking a 1-0 lead over the Braves in the bottom of the second. The Lions scored another run in the bottom of the third to extend their lead over OU to 2-0.
Ottawa had its opportunities. In the top of the first inning, the Braves had two reach base with a walk by
Riley Newbold and a double off the left field wall by Katie Ennking. OU was not able to take the early lead.
Madison Bunfill doubled to left in the top of the fourth and
Cierra Faubion reached first on a single to left in the top of the fifth, but the Braves were not able to push them across home plate and the Lions took the 2-0 victory.
