Women's Flag Football Plays Thomas in the Tournament Semifinals

Ottawa has won 25 straight games, dating back to 2022, with its 34-6 victory over Midland University on Thursday morning and a 21-12 win over Keiser University on Thursday afternoon.

In the win over Midland on Thursday morning, the Braves had 298 yard of offense, 258 yards through the air and 40 yards rushing. Ottawa's defense held Midland to a total of 142 yards, 148 through the air and -6 rushing.

Against Keiser, Ottawa had 52 yards rushing and 190 yards passing for 242 yards of offense. Keiser finished the game with 249 yards of offense, negative six rushing and 255 yards passing. The Braves held the Seahawks to 97 yards of offense in the second half, all through the air. Ottawa had 150 yards of offense in the second half.

OU is outscoring oppoents 258-45 in the second half this season.

Madysen Carrera was named KCAC Player of the Year, Abby Brown earned KCAC Defensive Player of the Year honors, and Liz Sowers was named KCAC Coach of the Year. Susann Kaufmann has tallied 12 sacks in the last seven games for the Braves. Kaufmann had four sacks in OU's 34-6 victory over Midland University in the Braves' first game of the Women's Flag Finals Tournament on Thursday. She had a sack and an interception in OU's 21-12 win over Keiser on Thursday afternoon.

Friday is the third meeting between Ottawa University and Thomas University. The Night Hawks won the first meeting between the two teams on March 16 in Babson Park, Fla., 19-7. Ottawa defeated Thomas in the Women's Flag Football Finals Championship Game last season, 24-20.

In OU's win over TU in the championship game, Ottawa finished the game with 300 yards of offense, 44 yards rushing and 256 yards passing. Thomas had 299 yards of offense, 11 yards rushing and 288 yards passing. Madysen Carrera led OU with 23 yards on five carries. Addison Orsborn was right behind her with 21 yards rushing on five carries. Carrera went 23-for-34 through the air for 256 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception. Alyssa Linkous led OU with eight receptions for 71 yards and one touchdown. Orsborn finished the game with seven receptions for 55 yards. Bailey Hodgins and Jazlyn Camacho each had a touchdown down reception. Faron Malouff led OU with eight tackles. Alyssa Gillespie had seven tackles and one pass break up. Hailee McKay finished the game with six tackles. Madysen Carrera, Alyssa Linkous, Hailee McKay, and Addison Orsborn were named to the All-Tournament Team. Orsborn was named MVP of the championship game.
