Women's Flag To Play in 3rd Consecutive NAIA Women's Flag Finals Championship

Ottawa has won 26 straight games, dating back to 2022, with its 19-0 victory over Thomas University in the NAIA Women's Flag Finals Semifinal. The Braves finished the game with 283 yards of offense, 70 rushing and 213 passing. Thomas had 198 yards of offense, five yards rushing and 193 yards passing.

Ottawa's shutout of Thomas University on Thursday morning was the first time in program history that the Night Hawks did not score.

Ottawa had 13 players named to the All-KCAC Teams. Madysen Carrera was named KCAC Player of the Year, Abby Brown earned KCAC Defensive Player of the Year honors, and Liz Sowers was named KCAC Coach of the Year. This will be the third consecutive year that OU will play for a NAIA Women's Flag Football Finals championship. Ottawa is 2-0 in those games.

Ottawa had four Braves named to the 2023 U.S. Women's Flag National Team. They are Jazlyn Camacho, Alyssa Linkous, and Addison Orsborn. OU head coach, Liz Sowers, was named the team's assistant coach. The team will compete at the 2023 International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Americas Continental Flag Football Championship from July 5-7 in Charlotte, N.C.

If Ottawa and Keiser meet in the championship game, it will be the fourth time that the two teams have met at the NAIA Women's Flag Football Finals and the second time that they have met in the championship game. If Ottawa and Thomas meet on Saturday, it will be the second consecutive season that the two teams have met in the championship game and the third time that they have met at the NAIA Women's Flag Football Finals.
Through 17 games this season, Ottawa's offense is averaging 61.4 yards on the ground and 258.9 yards through the air for an average of 320.4 yards per game. The offense is scoring 39 points per game.

Ottawa's defense is holding opponents to six points per game. Opponents are averaging 172.8 yards of offense per game, 15.5 rushing and 157.4 passing.

Madysen Carrera leads Ottawa in rushing with 761 yards, an average of 44.8 yards per game. She has scored nine rushing touchdowns. Carrera also leads the Braves with 3,927 yards (336-460) through the air. She has thrown 69 touchdowns, is completing 73 percent of her passes, and is averaging 231 passing yards per game.

Alyssa Linkous is OU's leader in receptions with 71. She leads the Braves with 842 receiving yards and is averaging 52.6 receiving yards per game. Linkous has 17 touchdown receptions. Jazlyn Camacho is OU's leader in touchdown receptions with 19. She is averaging 52.3 receiving yards per game, has 54 receptions, and 836 receiving yards.

Abby Brown leads the Braves in flag pulls with 96. She has seven interceptions and seven pass break ups. Susann Kaufmann is second on the team in flag pulls with 46. She has 16 flag pulls for loss, 15 sacks, three interceptions, and two pass break ups. DeJonice Parris has 41 flag pulls, seven sacks, and one pass break up. Jukanie Washington has 40 flag pulls, one sack, eight interceptions, and six pass break ups.

Ottawa's defense has 44 flag pulls for loss, 35 sacks, 37 interceptions, and 57 pass break ups. That is an average of 2.5 flag pulls for loss per game, 2.1 sacks per game, 2.1 interceptions per game, and 3.3 pass break ups per game.

In Ottawa's 21-12 victory over Keiser on Thursday, OU had 52 yards rushing and 190 yards passing for 242 yards of offense. Keiser finished the game with 249 yards of offense, negative six rushing and 255 yards passing. The Braves held the Seahawks to 97 yards of offense in the second half, all through the air. Ottawa had 150 yards of offense in the second half.

On Friday, in the Braves' 19-0 victory over Thomas, Ottawa finished the game with 283 yards of offense, 70 rushing and 213 passing. Thomas had 198 yards of offense, five yards rushing and 193 yards passing.

Keiser University is 11-5 this season. The Seahawks are averaging 273.2 yards of offense per game and have scored 48 touchdowns. KU has rushed for 41 yards this season and scored four rushing touchdowns. Keiser is averaging 269.4 passing yards per game and has 41 receiving touchdowns.

Jazmin Rhoden leads KU in rushing with 59 yards. She is averaging 2.3 yards per carry and has three rushing touchdowns. Rhoden also leads Keiser in passing. Seh is 223-350 through the air for 2,230 yards and 29 touchdowns. Haylie Young has thrown for 734 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Kennedy Foster leads the Seahawks in receptions with 54. She has 638 receiving yards and 10 touchdown receptions. Emma Wagenman is right behind her with 53 receptions. She has 456 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. Sophia Caprio is second on the team in touchdown receptions with eight.

Lizandra Amor and Sa'mya Bryant lead the team in flag pulls with 41. Reigan Pellegrino is the team's leader in sacks with 10. Marisa Rubino and Adrianna Cavalotti leads the Seahawks in interceptions with three apiece. Santiago has 11 pass break ups.
