Men's Basketball is Upended by York, 94-82

OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's basketball team fell 94-82 to York University in Wilson Field House on Saturday evening.

The Braves fell behind early to the Panthers, trailing 17-11 with 13:32 to go it the first half. Ottawa put together a 10-0 run and after a jumper by Deondre Buggage, the Braves had a 21-17 lead.

York responded with a run of its own, 12-2, and led 29-23 with 8:34 on the clock. The Braves cut into the Panther lead and were within 31-29 after a Kamren Wood basket. YU answered by scoring the next eight points to take a 39-29 lead with 3:50 remaining the half.

Ottawa didn't go away and cut York's lead to five points with a basket by Amil Fields, 45-40, with 30 seconds left in the half. The Brave defense came away with a stop in the final seconds of the half and York took a 45-40 lead into the locker room.  

The Braves struggled to put the ball in the basket in the first seven and a half minutes of the second half. Ottawa's first five points came on free throws. Jayden Hibbitt's basket at the 12:35 mark was OU's first field goal of the second half and the Braves trailed 56-47.

York was able to increase its lead to 18 points, 69-51 with 9:05 on the clock. Ottawa cut the deficit to nine points, 87-78, with 1:24 left in the contest. That is all the closer OU would get as York pushed its lead back to double figure, taking the 94-82 victory.
