NORTH NEWTON, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's volleyball team was defeated 3-0; 26-24, 25-21, 25-14; by Bethel College in the KCAC Tournament Quarterfinals on Tuesday night in Thresher Gymnasium.
How it Happened
- The Braves took an early lead in set one and after a kill by Campbell Stark OU led 7-4. A BC service error and a Kenzie Kuxhaus service ace increased the OU lead to 10-6. Bethel rallied, taking an 18-17 lead over Ottawa. The teams exchanged points and a Radaisy Valdez kill tied the set at 19 all. Bethel answered with two straight points, taking a 21-19 lead. Ottawa did not go away and rallied to tie the set at 22 all on a block by Ariana Arciniega and Stark. The teams exchanged points once more and a kill by Arciniega tied the set, 24-24. That was the last time the set was tied as OU was not able to complete the comeback. Bethel scored the next two points, taking the 26-24 victory.
- Bethel led 10-6 at the start of set no. 2, leading to a Brave timeout. Ottawa rallied and tied the set at 17 all on a Hollie Peters' kill. The Threshers responded by scoring six straight points to take a 23-17 lead. Ottawa answered with three straight points, cutting the Bethel lead to 23-20. OU was not able to get any closer to the Threshers and they took the 25-21 victory.
- The Braves fell behind 4-1 to Bethel in set three. The Threshers extended their lead to 10-5. Ottawa was unable to rally, and Bethel took the 25-11 victory.
