Women's Volleyball Plays Bethel in the KCAC Quarterfinals on Tuesday Night

Ottawa ended the regular season on a four match winning streak. The Braves defeated York University 3-0 last Saturday night in Wilson Field House. OU finished the match with 48 kills, a .235 attacking percentage, 45 assists, 72 digs and six team blocks.

For the second straight week, Kenzie Kuxhaus was named KCAC Defensive Player of the Week. In two matches last week, Kuxhaus had 71 digs. She averaged 8.8 digs per set and 35.5 digs per match. In OU's contest against York University, Kuxhaus finished the match with 35 digs in three sets. That is an average of 11.6 digs per set. She is ranked fourth in the NAIA in digs (706) and fourth in digs per set (6.4).

Radaisy Valdez leads the team in kills per set (3.2) and blocks per set (1.1). Madison Brauner is OU's leader in assists per set (6.3) and Kenzie Kuxhaus leads the Braves in digs per set (6.4).

Kenzie Kuxhaus is the fifth OU women's volleyball player to record 700 or more digs in a single season. She has 706 through 28 matches.

Ottawa is ranked 43rd in the NAIA in kills (1,402), 50th in kills per set (12.7), 30th in total attacks (4,242), 45th in assists (1,314), 48th in assists per set (11.9), 27th in digs (2,025), 18th in digs per set (18.4), 21st in solo blocks (79), 28th in block assists (364), 14th in total blocks (261), 11th in blocks per set (2.3), 12th in blocking errors (63), and 49th in points (1771.0).

Tuesday night is the 96th match between Ottawa University and Bethel College. The Threshers lead the series, 59-36, and are on a two match winning streak against the Braves. The last time OU defeated Bethel was on Oct. 11, 2022 in Thresher Gymnasium. Ottawa won the match 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-23). The first meeting between the two teams happened on Nov. 6, 1976. Bethel won the match 2-0 (15-12, 15-10). Ottawa lost 21 straight matches to Bethel to start the series. It wasn't until Oct. 2, 1990 that OU defeated the Threshers in three sets, 2-1 (8-15, 15-12, 15-7).

Ottawa has a record of 45-18 in the KCAC Tournament and have won 10 KCAC Tournament Championships. OU is 1-6 against Bethel in the KCAC Tournament and is 0-4 against Bethel in North Newton in the KCAC Tournament. OU has lost two straight to the Threshers in the KCAC Tournament. The Braves last win over Bethel in the KCAC Tournament was on Nov. 13, 2004 in Wilson Field House. OU won the match 3-0 (30-24, 30-23, 30-27). Bethel College is 22-8 overall and finished tied for third in the KCAC with Ottawa and Evangel (10-3). The Threshers enter Tuesday night's match coming off a 3-0 loss to Oklahoma Wesleyan University last Saturday in Bartlesville. That loss snapped Bethel's six match winning streak.

Through 30 matches, the Threshers are averaging 12.4 kills, 11.7 assists, 2.3 blocks, 1.8 service aces, and 16.7 digs per set. Bethel has a .206 attacking percentage.

Bethel is ranked 42nd in the NAIA in attacking percentage (.206), 41st in service errors (236), 20th in block assists (388), 19th in total blocks (248), 12th in blocks per set (2.3), 28th in ball handling errors (12), and 35th in points per set (16.7).

Cameron Offerle leads Bethel in kills per set (3.2), Mia Roman is BC's leader in kills per set (10.1), Abby Koontz leads the team in digs per set (4.4), and Darla Crow is BC's leader in blocks per set (1.3).
