Women's Volleyball Finishes the Regular Season Vs. York on Saturday

Ottawa won its third straight match with a five set victory (14-25, 29-27, 18-25, 25-13, 15-7) over the University of Saint Mary on Wednesday night in Wilson Field House. OU finished the match with 57 kills, a .171 attacking percentage, 54 assists, four service aces, 101 digs, and 13 team blocks.

Through 26 matches this season, Ottawa is averaging 12.6 kills per set, 11.8 assists per set, 2.2 blocks per set, 1.01 service aces per set, and 18.3 digs per set. OU has a .198 attacking percentage.

Radaisy Valdez leads OU in kills per set (3.1), Madison Brauner is OU's leader in assists per set (6.2), Kenzie Kuxhaus leads the Braves in digs per set (6.2), and Valdez is the team's leader in blocks per set (1.08).

Kenzie Kuxhaus was named KCAC Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts in OU's two victories last week over (RV) Evangel University and Sterling College. She had 55 digs, averaging 6.8 digs per set and 27.5 digs per match.

Kuxhaus 671 digs ranks her fifth in the OU record book for single season digs. She is just the seventh OU women's volleyball player to record 600 or more digs in a single season. Kuxhaus is ranked fifth in the NAIA in total digs (671) and fourth in digs per set (6.27).

Saturday will be the 13th meeting between Ottawa University and York University. The Braves lead the series, 12-0, and has not dropped a set to the Panthers in those 12 matches. OU is 4-0 against the Panthers in Wilson Field House. Ottawa won the match last season in York, 2-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-15). The first time the two team played against each other was on Aug. 30, 2014. OU won the contest 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 27-25).

York University is 19-13 overall and 5-7 in the KCAC. The Panthers are on a two match losing streak and have a road mark of 5-7. YU's 19 wins are the most since the 2015 season when York had 18 victories. It is also York's first winning season since 2011 when the Panthers had a record of 20-15.

Through 32 matches this season, York is averaging 10.5 kills per set, 10.1 assists per set, 1.2 blocks per set, 2.01 service aces per set, and 15.9 digs per set. The Panthers have a .156 attacking percentage.

Brianan Lemke leads the team in kills per set (3.1), Mariah Janda is YU's leader in assists per set (5.3), Cassie Richardson is York's leader in digs per set (4.7), and Kenna Tarowski leads the team in blocks per set (0.5).

York is ranked 42nd in the NAIA in total attacks (4,025), 15th in service aces (235), 42nd in service errors (224), 39th in service aces per set (2.01), 29th in receptions (2,195), 42nd in reception errors (200, 37th in digs (1,871), 49th in blocking errors (39), and 35th in ball handling errors (10).
