Men's Basketball to Play Bethany in Final Home Game of 2024 on Saturday

The Braves had their six game winning streak snapped with a 76-58 loss to Southwestern College in Winfield on Wednesday night. Ottawa shot 36.7 percent from the floor, 23.8 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 81.8 percent from the free throw line.

This season, Ottawa is averaging 84.9 points, 44.8 rebounds, and 15.3 assists per game. OU is shooting 45.5 percent from the floor, 30.4 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 73 percent from the free throw line.

Jayden Hibbitt leads the Braves in scoring (15.9), Keith Robinson is OU's leader in rebounding (8.3), Deondre Buggage is the team's leader in assists (3.1) per game, Alex Riddick is Ottawa's in blocks (1.2) and Najee Jones leads the team in steals (2.4) per game.

Saturday is the 195th meeting between Ottawa University and Bethany College. The series is tied 97-97. The two teams split the season series last year. Ottawa won 77-56 in Wilson Field House on Jan 3 and Bethany defeated OU 89-86 in Hahn Gymnasium on Feb. 17. The first ever meeting between Ottawa and Bethany happened on Feb. 15, 1907 in Lindsborg. The Swedes won the game, 31-27. OU is 2-3 in its last five games against Bethany.

Ottawa and Bethany were the first collegiate basketball game played in Wilson Field House. The two teams met on Jan. 9, 1948. Ottawa won the game 68-53.

Bethany College is 5-4 overall and 2-2 in the KCAC. The Swedes are 2-2 on the road this season and have won two straight games with victories over Bethel (87-71) on Nov. 23 and York (80-70) on Dec. 4.

This season the Swedes are averaging 82.7 points, 36.3 rebounds, and 15.4 assists per game. They are shooting 46.6 percent from the floor, 33.6 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 66.3 percent from the free throw line.
