Men's Basketball Travels West to Bethany on Saturday

Ottawa won its third straight game with an 81-79 win over McPherson College in Wilson Field House on Wednesday night. Deondre Buggage hit the game winner with 23 seconds on the clock. OU shot 50.8 percent from the floor, 55 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 80 percent from the free throw line. Deondre Buggage led OU in scoring with 28 points on 11-for-17 shooting from the floor. He also had nine assists and two steals.

This season, Ottawa is averaging 81.4 points, 40 rebounds, and 13.5 assists per game. OU is shooting 44.8 percent from the floor, 36 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 77.6 percent from the free throw line.

Jayden Hibbitt leads the team in scoring, averaging 20 points per game. He is shooting 50 percent from the floor and 43.4 percent from behind the 3-pt line. Angok Anyang is OU's leader in rebounding (10), Deondre Buggage is the team's leader in assists (4.8), and Kamren Woods leads the Braves in steals (1.5) per game.

Saturday is the 194th meeting between Ottawa University and Bethany College. Ottawa broke its two game losing streak to the Swedes on Jan. 3 with a 77-56 victory over Bethany in Wilson Field House. OU has lost two straight to BC in Hahn Gymnasium. The last time OU won in Lindsborg was on Feb. 4, 2021. The Braves defeated the Swedes, 93-76. The very first meeting between the two teams happened on Feb. 15, 1907 in Lindsborg. Bethany won the game, 31-27.

In OU's 15 wins this season, the Braves are averaging 86.5 points and shooting 47.7 percent from the floor and 39.5 percent from behind the 3-pt line. In their nine losses, OU is averaging 72.9 points per game and shooting 40.2 percent from the floor and 29.7 percent from behind the 3-pt line.

With four games to go in the regular season, Ottawa is in sixth in the KCAC with a record of 10-8. The top eight teams in the conference qualify for the KCAC Tournament.

In Ottawa's 77-56 win over Bethany on Jan. 3 in Wilson Field House, OU shot 42.3 percent from the floor, 39.1 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 72.7 percent from the free throw line. Jayden Hibbitt finished the game with a double-double, scoring 26 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Deondre Buggage scored 13 points and had three assists and two steals. Angok Anyang had a double-double as well, finishing the game with 10 points and 10 rebounds. He had two blocks and three steals. Amil Fields led the Braves with five assists.

Bethany College has an overall record of 3-21, are 14th in the KCAC with a mark of 2-17, is on an eight game losing streak, has a record of 1-9 at home, and enters Saturday's game coming off a 90-75 loss at Evangel on Wednesday.

The Swedes last win happened on Jan. 17 at York University. Bethany won the game 72-70.

This season, Bethany is averaging 64.3 points, 30.3 rebounds, and 11.2 assists per game. The Swedes are shooting 40.8 percent from the floor, 30.6 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 59.8 percent from the free throw line.

BC is ranked 35th in the NAIA in steals (8.7) per game.

Maurice Cudjo II leads Bethany in scoring, averaging 14.3 points per game. He is shooting 43.9 percent from the floor and 30.9 percent from behind the 3-pt line. Jamal Frenchwood is BC's leader in rebounding (6.1), Devin Spencer leads Bethany in assists (2.7) and steals (3.1) per game.
