Women's Basketball Travels to Salina to Play Kansas Wesleyan on Monday

The Braves fell 74-46 to Bethany College in Hahn Gymnasium on Saturday evening.  Ottawa shot 29.6 percent from the floor, 28.6 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 55.6 percent from the free throw line. Katelyn Alatini led OU with 11 points and two blocks. Tootie Allen had five rebounds. Tiyani Rollins finished the game with four steals.

This season, the Braves are averaging 72.4 points, 37.6 rebounds, and 12.1 assists per game. They are shooting 39.3 percent from the floor, 34.2 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 73.5 percent from the free throw line.

Ottawa is ranked 40th in the NAIA in field goals attempted per game (65.9), 21st in 3-pt field goals made per game (8.7), 34th in 3-pt field goals attempted per game (25.4), 26th in 3-pt field goal percentage (.342), 42nd in free throw percentage (.735), and 39th in blocks per game (3.6).

Saturday is the 93rd meeting between Ottawa University and Kansas Wesleyan University. The series is tied 46-46 and the Braves are on a two game winning streak against the Coyotes. Prior to OU's 74-70 win over KWU in the KCAC Tournament last season on Feb. 23, OU had lost seven straight road games to the Coyotes. The Braves have only one once in Mabee Arena during the regular season and that was on Feb. 13, 2016. Ottawa defeated Kansas Wesleyan 67-56. The Braves are 2-15 against KWU in Mabee Arena. The first meeting between the two teams took place in 1907. Ottawa won the game 21-16. The Braves won the first meeting this season on Dec. 6, 2023, 84-74, in Wilson Field House.

In the win over KWU on Dec. 3, Ottawa shot 44.9 percent from the floor, 34.8 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 82.4 percent from the free throw line. Four Braves were in double figures led by Abby Dietsche's 21 points. She led OU with eight rebounds. Dietsche also had five blocks. Kennedy Bankett finished the game with 17 points and three steals. It was her fourth straight game with double figures. Jayla Johnson and Katelyn Alatini both finished with 15 points apiece. Janiyah Hendricks led OU with five assists and five steals.

Kansas Wesleyan University is 14-11 overall, has a record of 12-7 in the KCAC, is 6-6 in Mabee Arena this season, and enters Monday's game coming off an 89-74 win over Southwestern College on Saturday night.
