Box Score LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's flag football team defeated the University of Saint Mary 34-0 on Tuesday night.
Ottawa received the ball to start the game and for the first time this season, did not score on its first offensive possession of the game. On fourth and five from the USM 25 yard line,
Madysen Carrera's pass to
Bailey Hodgins was incomplete and OU turned the ball over on downs.
It did not take the Braves long, however, to get on the score board. On USM's first play from scrimmage,
Teliyah McInnis intercepted the Spire quarterback's pass. She returned the ball 30 yards for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good and OU led 7-0.
On USM's second offensive possession of the game the OU defense forced a punt and the Braves took over on its own 21 yard line.
OU moved the ball to the USM 25 yard line. Ottawa was not able to convert the fourth and five and turned the ball over downs with 11:32 left in the second quarter. OU's defense forced another Spire punt and OU took over on its own 33 yard line.
Seven plays and 47 yards later, Ottawa was in the end zone. Carrera completed a five yard touchdown pass to Hodgins for the touchdown. The extra point attempt was no good and with 5:45 left in the first half, OU led 13-0.
The OU defense forced another Spire punt and took over on the USM 36 yard line with 2:08 left in the second quarter. Ottawa held the ball for the next 1:52, but was not able to convert a fourth down from the one yard line and USM took over on downs. The Spires ran out the final 19 seconds of the half and OU took a 13-0 lead into the locker room.
USM received the ball to start the second half and the OU defense forced a fourth Spire punt. It only took two plays for the Braves to extend their lead over Saint Mary. Carrera completed a 10 yard touchdown pass to
Marley Spielberg. The extra point attempt was good and with 8:05 to go in the third, the Braves lead 20-0.
Another punt by the Spires gave OU the ball on the USM 34 yard line. Ottawa put together a six play, 34 yard drive that ended in a 16 yard touchdown pass from Carrera to Spielberg. The extra point attempt was good and Ottawa lead 27-0.
The OU defense forced a second Spire interception on the Spires next offensive possession.
Dejonice Parris picked off the pass and returned it for the touchdown. The Carrera extra point attempt was good, giving OU a 34-0 lead with 34 seconds left in the third.
The game was called with 10 minutes to go in the fourth due to lighting and the Braves took the 34-0 victory.

- Ottawa finished the game with 208 yards of offense, 153 yards passing and 55 yards rushing. Saint Mary had 50 yards of offense, 48 yards passing and two yards rushing.
- Madysen Carrera was 15-for-27 through the air for 153 yards and three touchdowns. She led OU in rushing with 27 yards.
- Marley Spielberg and Mandolyn Scalisi led OU with four receptions apiece. Spielberg led OU in receiving yards with 61. She had two receiving touchdowns and Bailey Hodgins had one receiving touchdown.
- Abby Brown led OU with four flag pulls.
- Jukanie Washington was right behind her with three flag pulls.
- Dejonice Parris and Teliyah McInnis each had an interception and returned them for a touchdown.
