Orsborn Named to the USA Football’s U.S. Women’s Flag Football National Team

OTTAWA, Kan. – Ottawa University women's flag football player, Addison Orsborn, has been named to the 18-athlete roster for USA Football's U.S. Women's Flag Football National Team and will compete for the opportunity to represent the United States in international competition this summer at the Flag Football World Championships in Lahti, Finland in August.

Orsborn, a junior from Round Rock, Texas, is a two-time NAIA Flag Finals Champion and was twice named First Team All-KCAC. She was named to the 2023 USA Football US Women's Flag Football National Team. Orsborn was a 2022 NAIA Flag Finals MVP.  While at Ottawa University, Orsborn has scored 113 points, has 18 touchdowns, 12 receiving touchdowns, has 280 rushing yards, 113 receptions, 992 receiving yards, and has 1,299 all-purpose yards. She scored the game winning touchdown in OU's 2023 NAIA Flag Finals Championship game.

The 2024 IFAF Flag Football World Championship is the event's first iteration since the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced the inclusion of flag football in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. The announcement added even more fuel to flag's already skyrocketing popularity. The sport is played by millions worldwide in more than 100 countries and is putting down roots at the competitive high school and college levels in the U.S.

This summer's world championship, which IFAF expects to be its largest to date, will feature the best teams from around the world as determined by the IFAF's 2023 Continental Championships, which headlined the international governing body's biggest-ever cycle of global flag football competition.

In preparation for the summer, USA Football recently conducted U.S. National Team Trials. The nation's 60 best women flag football players descended on the United States Performance Center (USPC) in Charlotte, N.C. for several days of testing and field work. The results of Trials trimmed the player pool to the initial roster of 18 athletes for each team.

USA Football will announce the final 12-athlete rosters for the U.S. Men's and Women's Flag National Teams following a U.S. National Team Training Camp in Charlotte from late May into early June. The other athletes will serve as alternates, available to be called up to the 12-athlete roster if needed.

The U.S. Women's Flag National Teams competed in the 2023 IFAF Americas Continental Flag Football Championship this past summer, winning gold in thrilling one-score championship games against Mexico.
