OTTAWA, Kan. – The (RV) Ottawa University women's volleyball team rallied to defeat previously unbeaten no. 19 Central Methodist University on Thursday evening in Wilson Field House, 3-2.
How it Happened
- The Braves fell behind early in set one and was not able to rally, falling 25-17 to the Eagles.
- OU trailed at the start of set two, 9-4. The Braves chipped away at the Eagle lead and after a kill by Kira Cherry, OU tied the set 9-9. CMU retook the lead and had a 15-12 advantage over the Braves. Ottawa responded with a 7-2 run, taking a 19-17 lead on a Cherry kill. The Eagles retook the lead but the Braves answered, taking a 24-22 lead on an Eagle attacking error. After a CMU timeout, the Eagles scored the next three points, taking a 25-24 lead over OU. A CMU service error tied the set at 25 all. A kill by Campbell Stark gave the Braves a 26-25 lead. Central Methodist tied the set on the next point, 26-26. Ottawa took the set by scoring the next two points, a kill by Cherry and a block by Radaisy Valdez and Cherry, 28-26.
- The Braves scored the first four points of set no. 3. Kills by Cherry and Stark gave OU a 9-4 lead. The Eagles rallied to take a 22-19 lead over the Braves. Kills by Valdez and Stark put OU within 23-21. Ottawa could not complete the comeback and Central Methodist took the 25-21 victory.
- OU fell behind 4-1 to start set four. Ottawa cut into the Central Methodist lead and after a block by Stark and Cherry, the Braves had an 11-7 lead. The Braves continued to hold their lead and led 18-10 on an Arian Arciniega kill. Ottawa's lead was never threatened, and the Braves took a 25-17 victory.
- Central Methodist scored the first three points of set no. 5. The Braves answered with a 5-1 run, taking a 5-4 lead on a kill by Ina Grbic. The Eagles responded by scoring the next three points to take a 7-5 lead over OU. The Braves answered with a run of their own, taking a 9-7 lead on an Eagle attacking error. Two kills by Hollie Peters and a kill by Valdez increased the OU lead to 14-10. Central Methodist scored the next point to cut OU's lead to 14-11. The Braves ended the Eagle threat by taking the set and the match on the next point, a Peters' kill, 15-11.

- Ottawa finished the match with 57 kills, a .182 attacking percentage, 51 assists, one service ace, 99 digs, and nine team blocks.
- OU had three players with double digit kills. Radaisy Valdez had 14 kills, six digs, and four blocks. Arian Arciniega finished the match with 12 kills and eight digs. Kira Cherry had 12 kills and a .400 attacking percentage.
- Madison Brauner had a double-double. She led OU with 24 assists and had 15 digs. Loranie Ruiz had 23 assists
- Kenzie Kuxhaus finished the match with 27 digs.

- Campbell Stark led the Braves with five blocks. She also had nine kills.
