NAIA Female Trailblazer of the Year
Recognizes an outstanding woman leader who exemplified outstanding support of women in athletics and their success.
OTTAWA, Kan. – Ottawa University Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Operations, Kathy Hinderliter, has been selected as the NAIA Female Trailblazer of the Year the national office announced on Monday afternoon.
"I'm so excited and honored to work alongside Ms. Kathy," said OU Director of Athletics, Janet Eaton-Smith. "She is the glue that keeps us all together and her leadership and institutional knowledge are equivalent to the Webster Dictionary. Ms. Kathy is poised under pressure and skilled in multitasking. She is the perfect role model for young administrators, coaches, and our student-athletes. I'm blessed to know her and can't wait to celebrate her at the NAIA Convention in April."
For the past 30 years, Kathy has been a pivotal force in Ottawa University (Kan.) athletics. As the assistant athletics director for compliance and operations, her knowledge of Ottawa University and experience have propelled OU through exponential growth and development.
"Three decades in the athletic department have taught me that awards are bright markers along the path of service, but the true triumph lies in seeing the success of our team, coaches, and leaders," said Hinderliter. "This recognition reflects the dedication of a community and my commitment to seeing the success of Ottawa University Athletics."
Kathy is the cornerstone of the athletic department which has grown from nine teams when she started to more than 30 teams and nearly 100 athletic staff members. Beyond her daily responsibilities, Kathy is consistently available to offer solutions, guidance, and mentorship to anyone who stops by her office.
Kathy's steadfast commitment to the athletics department and the broader Braves community has been instrumental in the success of Ottawa University and thousands of student-athletes.
