Leavenworth, KAN. - The Ottawa men's soccer team opened up KCAC play with a win as they cruised to a 2-0 victory over Saint Mary on Wednesday evening.
After a scoreless first half,
Alonso Basauri broke the deadlock with a 48th minute goal, assisted by
Jevan Purcell-Jackson. Purcell-Jackson added to the lead with an unassisted 55th minute goal.
Ottawa outshot Saint Mary 12 to 10, and led in shots on goal, seven to four.
Nicolo Cinelli made four saves en route his first solo clean sheet of the season, and the team's second.
Ottawa (2-4-0, 1-0-0 KCAC) returns to the field on Saturday, August 21, as they travel to York, Nebraska for an away game at York University. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
