#11 Braves Host Avila on Tuesday

OTTAWA, Kan. – The #11 Ottawa Women's Wrestling team will host the first of two duals on Tuesday against the Avila Eagles.
Last time out for the Braves, the Ottawa University women's wrestling competed against three teams at the Eagle Duals. Ottawa defeated Wayland Baptist, 25-21, and Avila, 41-5. The Braves fell to Indian Hills CC, 23-21.

Aynsley Fink started the dual with a fall victory over Alissa Cowing in the 110lb weight division. Peyton Hand won an 8-5 decision over Tess Barnett in the 124lb weight division. In the 131lb, Camryn Mather secured a fall win over Mattison Goss. Livia Swift defeated Aspen DeHerrera on a technical fall in the 138lb weight class. Leilani Caamal earned a 5-4 decision win against Avery Shinkle in the 145lb. Kaylee Davis won by forfeit in the 180lb weight division.

Almarwa Alkhalil earned a 5-3 decision win in the 103lb weight division, defeating Chasey Karabell. Aynsley Fink secured a win in the 110lb weight class on a forfeit. Peyton Hand won a 6-0 decision match against Angelica Vicente in the 124lb weight division. Haley Flores took down Sarah Lewis in the 160lb weight division on a fall. Faith Spicer won by forfeit in the 207lb weight class.

Aynsley Fink and Shae Salinas won their matches by falls, Fink in the 110lb weight class and Salinas in the 117lb weight division. Peyton Hand and Camryn Mather won their matches by technical falls in their respective weight divisions, Hand in the 124lb and Mather in the 131lb. Mikinlee Smith pinned Andrea Uribe in the 138lb weight division. In the 145lb weight class, Kaydence Bonewell defeated Jaclyn Riedinger on a 4-0 decision. Haley FloresCiera Hutton-Spieker and Faith Spicer each won by forfeit in the final matches.

After the Eagle Duals, Peyton Hand was awarded KCAC Wrestler of the Week for her three victories.
Ottawa moves to #11 in the fourth NAIA Poll. Kendall Martin is 15th in the 117lb weight division. Peyton Hand is 13th in the 124lb weight class. Livia Swift comes in 16th in the 138lb weight division. Leilani Caamal and Kaydence Bonewell are ranked in the 145lb weight class, Caamal is 15th and Bonewell is 19thDarby Weidl is fifth in the 160lb weight division. Kaylee Davis and Ciera Hutton-Spieker are ranked in the 180lb weight class, Davis is 12th and Hutton-Spieker is 17thHannah Jackson is sixth and Kena Leonard is 11th in the 207lb.

Ottawa is 4-3 against the Avila Eagles in program history. Ottawa is on a two-match win streak against the Eagles.

On Friday, Ottawa will host the Friends Falcons for senior night.
