Men's Bowling Finishes Ninth at Mid-States Championships

WICHITA, Kan. - The Ottawa men's bowling team opened up their season with a top ten placement as they finished ninth at the Mid-States Championships in Wichita.

On day one, the Braves posted a 5,940 total for six games. Kenji London led the way with a 1,253 pinfall, landing him in 11th place. On Sunday, Ottawa had a 16 baker game total of 2,915 which brought their overall weekend total to 8,855.

Coach Poston's Thoughts
"Our men's team is as talented up and down the roster as ever. Way too talented to be sitting in 5th (after Saturday), well within the cut line (top 8) and fall to 9th in one day. Everyone needs to be accountable. We as coaches need to be better and our players need to execute more consistently. It's still early in the season. Not making matchplay was a huge disappointment. However, we have time to bounce back. Hopefully this left a bad taste in our mouths, and I look forward to seeing how we respond."

Coach Maida's Thoughts
"Saturday started out very slow but the team rallied around each other to put us in a great spot going into Sunday. On Sunday we were humbled quickly by a difficult and demanding oil pattern. As a team we must put the day behind us and learn from our mistakes. At this level, we must execute at the highest level and limit the costly mistakes. I have nothing but confidence in this team and the places we can go."

Up Next
Ottawa continues their season at the Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge on October 25-26. The men's team will be bowling at Royal Crest Lanes in Lawrence, Kansas.
