OTTAWA, Kan. – Ottawa University Director of Athletic Performance,
Aaron Schultz, is pleased to announce the hiring of
Andrea Barreda as the Assistant Director of Athletic Performance.
Barreda joins the Braves staff with a strong background in strength and conditioning, sports performance, and athlete development. She has served in multiple performance and coaching roles, building experience in program design, injury prevention, and student-athlete wellness.
"Andrea's expertise and energy will be a tremendous asset to our student-athletes," said Schultz. "Her ability to develop training programs that enhance performance while prioritizing health and recovery will help elevate our entire athletic department."
Before coming to Ottawa University, Barreda worked with collegiate athletic programs and training facilities where she guided athletes across multiple sports, emphasizing strength development, mobility, and conditioning. She has also contributed to research and education in the field of exercise science, giving her a comprehensive approach to athlete performance.
In her role with the Braves, Barreda will assist in designing and implementing training programs for Ottawa's varsity teams, focusing on strength, speed, agility, and injury prevention. She will also support the Director of Athletic Performance in managing the university's performance facilities and overseeing student-athlete development initiatives.
"I am excited to join Ottawa University and contribute to the growth and success of its student-athletes," Barreda said. "My goal is to provide a training environment where our athletes can maximize their potential both on and off the field."
Barreda holds a degree in health and physical education with a minor in business from the University of Kansas. She holds a masters degree in applied physiology and kinesiology with a concentration in human performance from the University of Florida.
