(25) Men's Soccer at Home Against York to Conclude Homecoming Weekend

OTTAWA, Kan. - The Ottawa men's soccer team looks to pick up crucial points as they host York as part of Homecoming weekend and Senior Night.
  • Ottawa is 9-1-5 on the season and 8-0-2 in KCAC play.
  • The Braves are coming off a 2-1 win over Southwestern on Wednesday in Winfield.
  • In that game, Antonio Natalucci scored Ottawa's two goals within a minute of each other after Southwestern took an inital lead. David Martinez made three saves in goal.
  • Antonio Natalucci leads Ottawa in goals with twelve, while Alonso Basauri leads the Braves in assists with 14.
  • York comes into this contest with a 10-3-2 overall record and a 7-1-2 KCAC record.
  • The Panthers are coming off a 2-2 tie at McPherson on Wednesday.
  • Asaph Achero is York's leading goalscorer with nine, Achero and Franco Pablot are the Panthers joint-assists leaders with five each.
  • Ottawa and York have met 14 times, York leads the series 7-5-2.
  • Last year's matchup was a 0-0 tie in York.
  • The last win in the series from either side came in 2023 as Ottawa dispatched York 2-0 at home.
  • Despite being behind in the series, Ottawa has not lost at home to York since 2018, a 2-3 loss in overtime. The Braves last home regulation loss to the Panthers came in 1986, a 2-3 loss.
  • Ottawa is 9-0-2 in games where they have scored at least one goal.
  • The Braves are 9-0-1 when they have scored at least two goals.
  • Ottawa is 3-0-2 in shutouts, and 4-0-2 when allowing just one goal.
  • Ottawa is on an eleven game unbeaten streak, winning the last seven.
  • Ottawa is 5-0-2 at home, York is 4-3-2 on the road.
  • Alonso Basauri's 14 assists puts him second in the NAIA in that category.
  • Ottawa currently sits in second in the KCAC table with 26 points, York is in third with 23 points. As it stands currently, Ottawa is still in the hunt for the conference championship and can do no worse than fourth. This guarantees the Braves will host a KCAC Tournament quarterfinal game. Should Ottawa win, they could move up to first depending on the result of (1) Oklahoma Wesleyan's match on Friday. A tie would keep them in second, a York win would move the Panthers up to second.
