Men's Bowling Finishes Eighth At Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge

LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Ottawa men's bowling team made their first cut of the season as they finished eighth at the Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge over the weekend.

On Saturday, the Braves had a 4,743 pinfall for five individual games. Justin Weddige led Ottawa varsity with 986 pins in five games. On Sunday, Ottawa posted a 3,074 total for sixteen baker games to bring their overall total to 7,817 and qualify them for the matchplay bracket in eighth. There, they went the distance against Wichita State, losing 2-3 in the quarterfinals.

Coach Maida's Thoughts
"We saw some small improvements from last weekend, but we will not be satisfied. We gave one of the best teams in the nation a run in a best of 5 but we know there is still work to be done, and room to improve."

Up Next
The Ottawa bowling teams continue their seasons at the NAIABCA Invitational from November 14-16 at Gage Bowl in Topeka, Kansas.
