OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's volleyball team fell 3-0; 25-13, 25-16, 25-17, to (9) McPherson College in Wilson Field House on Saturday afternoon.
Set One – McPherson 25, Ottawa 13
Ottawa opened with an early block from
Kira Cherry and
Campbell Stark, but McPherson quickly took control behind strong serving from Enya Fierens and Roxanna Varela Parra. Fierens' ace sparked a 5–1 Bulldog run that forced an early Braves timeout at 7–12. McPherson's balanced attack, led by Brooke McHale and Katie Warden, extended the margin to double digits. Ottawa's
Samantha Stahl and Cherry provided kills to slow the momentum, but McPherson closed out the set 25–13 on a service error.
Set Two – McPherson 25, Ottawa 16
The Braves hung close early, with Cherry and Stark putting down timely swings and
Carson Schuman adding an ace. However, McPherson's front row proved difficult to stop as Warden and McHale combined for multiple kills. Ottawa battled to within 14–15 midway through the set, but a series of Bulldog points off Fierens' serving run stretched the lead. Varela Parra distributed the offense efficiently, and McPherson secured the frame 25–16.
Set Three – McPherson 25, Ottawa 17
Ottawa started with energy, earning early kills from Cherry and Stark to keep the score tied through the first 10 rallies. McPherson's depth again became the difference as McHale and Varela Parra fueled a 7–1 run. Stahl and
Anja Kukic chipped in late kills for the Braves, and
Jezebel Hobbs helped spark a mini-rally at the service line to cut the deficit to 16–22. But the Bulldogs responded, closing the match with back-to-back points from Fierens and Varela Parra.
