Women's Volleyball Falls in Three Sets at Evangel

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Ottawa University women's volleyball team wrapped up its regular-season schedule on Tuesday afternoon, falling in straight sets to Evangel University, 25–12, 25–20, 25–18, inside AGFinancial Arena.

Set One: Evangel 25, Ottawa 12
The Crusaders came out strong, opening with a 7–3 lead before extending their advantage through consistent offensive pressure. Ottawa managed to close the gap late with kills from Campbell Stark and Hollie Peters, but Evangel's frontline, led by Vivianna Sanchez and Bella Wakley, controlled the pace. The Braves hit -.033 in the set, while Evangel posted a .444 efficiency to take the opener 25–12.

Set Two: Evangel 25, Ottawa 20
Ottawa responded with better rhythm in the second set, trading points early and building a 7–4 lead after kills from Bailee Nickel and Stark. Evangel rallied back with a 6–0 run to regain momentum, forcing an Ottawa timeout at 8–11.

The Braves made another push late in the frame, pulling within 20–23 after a service ace by Madison Cecil, but the Crusaders closed it out on back-to-back points to secure a 2–0 match lead.

Set Three: Evangel 25, Ottawa 18
The third set saw the Braves battle closely in the opening stages. Kills by Nickel, Peters, and Kira Cherry gave Ottawa a 10–6 advantage before Evangel stormed back with a 9–2 run.

Despite strong defensive efforts from Carson Schuman and timely assists from Madison Brauner, Evangel's front row proved too much to handle as the Crusaders sealed the sweep 25–18.

Team and Individual Highlights
Ottawa hit .050 as a team, collecting 29 kills on 121 total attacks. Evangel finished the day hitting .243 as a team, led by Sydney Bryan's 13 kills and Vivianna Sanchez's .455 attack percentage.
