Men's Basketball Road Trips to Hillsboro to Take on Tabor Wednesday

The Braves snapped their two game losing streak with a 92-86 overtime victory over Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina last Saturday. Ottawa shot an even 50 percent from the field and 50 percent from three. OU overcame a 12-point first-half deficit. The Braves outscored KWU 16–10 in overtime.

Through six games this season, Ottawa is averaging 85 points, 38.7 rebounds, and 11.8 assists per game. The Braves are shooting 46.9 percent from the floor, 40.2 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 75 percent from the free throw line. 

Micah Willis was named KCAC Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts in OU's 92-86 overtime victory over Kansas Wesleyan University last Saturday. Willis scored 28 points and had five rebounds in the game. He shot 61.1 (11-for-18) from the floor, 57.1 (4-for-7) from behind the 3-pt line, and was 2-for-2 from the free throw line.

Rich Martelly leads the Braves in scoring (17.7). Kuol Reech is OU's leader in rebounding (7.2) and blocks (0.5). Landyn Tyler leads Ottawa in assists per game (3.1) and Martelly is the team's leader in steals (1.3) per game. 

Ottawa is ranked 50th in the NAIA in points (510), 22nd in 3-pt field goal percentage (.402), 12th in free throws made per game (19.5), 27th in free throws attempted per game (26), 32nd in free throw percentage (.750), 37th in defensive rebounds per game (29.2), 29th in opponent personal fouls (20.5), 41st in opponent 3-pt field goal percentage (.285), and 17th in free throw totals-attempts (117-156). 

OU is 3-0 on the road this season, averaging 84.7 points per game. Away from Wilson Field House, the Braves are shooting 46.7 percent from the floor, 36.2 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 71.4 percent from the free throw line. Opponents are scoring 75.7 points per game and shooting 39.5 percent from the floor, 15.3 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 73 percent from the free throw line. 

Wednesday is the 96th game between Ottawa University and Tabor College. TC leads the series 54-41 but the Braves are on a two game winning streak against the Bluejays after sweeping the season series last year. Ottawa defeated Tabor 101-66 in Wilson Field House on Nov. 20, 2024 and 89-66 in Tabor Gymnasium on Jan. 11, 2025. OU is 4-1 in its last five games in Hillsboro with its lone defeat in the last road games coming on Jan. 17, 2024, 76-73. The first ever game played between the two teams happened on Dec. 10, 1968 in Hillsboro. Ottawa won the game 86-77. 

Tabor College is 2-4 overall, 0-1 in the KCAC, is on a two game losing streak and enters Wednesday's game coming off a 96-78 loss at home to Oklahoma Wesleyan University last Saturday. Tabor's two victories this season are against Mount Mercy University (76-68) on Nov. 1 and Central Christian College (92-86) on Nov. 8. 

Through six games this season, Tabor is averaging 71.7 points, 36.8 rebounds, and 13.8 assists per game. The Bluejays are shooting 45.1 percent from the floor, 33.7 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 61.3 percent from the free throw line. 

At home this season, Tabor is averaging 71.3 points per game and shooting 44.3 percent from the floor, 39.6 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 57.3 percent from the free throw line. The Bluejays have a record of 1-2 at home this season. 

Tabor is ranked sixth in the NAIA in opponent blocks per game (1.3) and 44th in opponent personal fouls per game (19.8). 

Marque Wilkerson leads the Bluejays in scoring (16.2), assists (4.2) and steals (2.0).  Andrija Maric is TC's leader in rebounding (7.0) and Niieihii Blackbear leads the team in blocks (1.2) per game.
