OTTAWA, Kan. — The Ottawa University volleyball team wrapped up its last home match of the regular season in impressive fashion Wednesday night, sweeping Saint Mary 3–0 (25–22, 25–21, 25–23) inside Wilson Field House.
Set One: Ottawa 25, Saint Mary 22
Ottawa weathered an early Saint Mary lead before finding its rhythm midway through the opening set. After trailing 13–9, the Braves surged behind strong play from
Kira Cherry and
Campbell Stark, using a 9–3 run to pull ahead 18–16. A kill from Stark pushed the Braves to set point, and she sealed it moments later with another putaway to close out the 25–22 win. Cherry finished the set with five kills while setter
Madison Holcomb helped spark the offense with steady distribution.
Set Two: Ottawa 25, Saint Mary 21
Saint Mary came out hot in the second frame, jumping ahead 6–0 on a run powered by Ava Bojanski's serve. Ottawa regrouped quickly after a timeout, responding with an 8–2 run that included a Holcomb ace and back-to-back kills from Stark. From there, the Braves leaned on balanced hitting and a block led by
Lillian Holden and
Bailee Nickel, who combined for three rejections in the set. Ottawa finished strong, scoring the final four points to take a 2–0 lead in the match.
Set Three: Ottawa 25, Saint Mary 23
The third set was a back-and-forth battle with neither side leading by more than three points. Cherry continued her standout night with five kills in the frame, while
Hollie Peters and
Samantha Stahl added key points down the stretch. Ottawa closed the match on a clutch play, as Peters drilled home the final kill off a set from Holcomb to secure the sweep.
